Almost certainly the Steelers best win, a comprehensive victory over the star studded Brisbane Broncos and a big home crowd in a frenzy.
Ray Warren said that the Steelers were "doing a Brisbane on Brisbane", Peter Sterling said that "Illawarra would push any side the way they've played tonight" and Wayne Bennett said that the Broncos "had not played a better side all year".
The win was also commemorated later in the season in the 3rd Dynamic Marketing NSWRL Trading Card series, "1994 Masters", featuring as a season highlight card.

I know we don't like the super league era, but there was a game in 1995 round 16 where Steelers squashed Parramatta 52-12 and Wishart landed a perfect 10/10 goals

They were unlucky too. They had to play heavyweights Canberra and Canterbury late in 1994 and narrowly lost those 2 games which ended up costing them a top 5 place. With a kinder draw, they could have made the 5 in 1994

@@tasteofsteel And Manly were lucky to escape with the draw. We had brick wall defence in 1994, 1995, 1996 then in 1997 started conceding big scores and became beatable. Eventually got trumped by Knights in the grand final. Like I said, Steelers were always my 2nd team and it's awesome to see these old school highlights
