Lord, Teach Us to Pray - Paul Washer

You may know theology, but do you know how to pray? We need to remember that the disciples didn't ask Jesus how to preach, perform miracles, walk on water, etc., but they did ask Him to teach them to pray. If we can't pray, we're basically useless in the kingdom of God, no matter how much doctrine we know.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved” Jesus said in John 6:47 “verily verily I say unto you he that believes in me has everlasting life” If you believe you have eternal life. Jesus died for our sins and rose again. If we believe the gospel we are saved and can know that our sins are forgiven.

Thank you. I recently found some of your lessons Paul. The Lord’s Prayer does teach us very well how to pray. So why haven’t we learned from it? In my case..I learned the prayer like a poem ..I could recite it but I never read it with understanding..”our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be they name...” there it is..dont we greet our loved ones with “I love you...your the best...your best mum ever” etc etc.... Start a prayer telling God we love him and He’s the best thing that ever happened to us!!! When I slowly read The Lord’s Prayer and applied it in this way...I learned prayer is easy...talk with Him, greet Him, let Him know how we are feeling, let Him know we are concerned for others and Let Him know we love and appreciate Him. Amen!

This! Most people will just speed up through the Lord's Prayer, repeating the words without even thinking about the true sense behind them. But it's not supposed to be a race. We should pray slowly, realising what we are saying. Every part of the Prayer is important: greet Him...give Him praise...acknowledge that HE is the Only One in charge on Earth and in Heaven, forever (how many people are actually ready to fully submit to His Will and deny their own wants, no matter how they feel about His wishes?)...ask for sustenance...ask for forgiveness...cry out for help (deliver us from evil)...because HE is the Only One who can deliver us (for Thy is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory) now and forever. It's true.

You maybe feeling what the Bible refers to as godly sorrow. This is happens when we read the word of God and see ourselves for who we really are compared to God's holiness and standard. Its ok to feel sad and overwhelmed, that is exactly where the Lord wants you to be so NOW you can TURN to JESUS and DEPEND on HIM in PRAYER. Ask Jesus to help you and give you the power to live for him. To change your desires and give you the will to do the things you now know that pleases him. Be Encouraged!!! 2 Corinthians 7:8-11; Philippians 2:13-14. 💗🙏🏾

@@jojygeorge1626 I am no pastor as far as I know, and I’ve said not a single word to you up until now. I merely presented you with three passages of scripture. That being said, children are always watching their parents. That much cannot be denied. That’s why it’s critical that your _actions_ align with your _words_ instead of testifying to your hypocrisy, which will lead children far away from God. Not that He can’t miraculously bring them back around, but that doesn’t make it God’s plan to demonstrate to your kids that it’s normal to be double-minded, unstable in all your ways, as a house divided against itself. Nor does the fact that children are always watching mean that you don’t have to raise your children in the way they should go and leave it all to “situations”. You are the parents. God gave you your children and the responsibility to raise them up, and in His word He commands that you do so. Saying that you don’t need to teach them because you only need to worry about yourselves and let the situations around them do the rest is not biblical parenting. “Situations” don’t have the power to teach your children that they are in need of repentance or why or to convict their souls of their sin in due time, and you as the parents can’t do that either. The truth is, just because you train them up right doesn’t mean that _you_ brought them to the Lord. It only means that you stood on God’s promise to do it Himself. Likewise, throwing off the responsibility from yourselves to fall instead on whatever happens in this life is to dodge the issue and not do the job God has given you in your children’s lives. It is a lie. One that I’m sure the enemy would be very happy to have you, and every Christian, believe. In short, just because children are watching you and checking your words against your actions doesn’t mean you don’t need to instruct them. God gave you your children and commands you to raise them properly. (That is, according to the Bible). If you need direction, search the Bible thoroughly and pray. Even fast if necessary. Asking people to pray for you is fine, but you need to pray for you and your family for yourself. To be honest with you, I think maybe for the time being you should focus a little less on receiving the Holy Spirit and instead focus on holiness. Fill yourself with the truth of God’s Word. Search His living Word (the Holy Bible), think on it day and night each and every day, let His Words come out of your lips, pray, seek God’s face-not for gifts or blessings or Spirit or power, but as a servant to do whatever He commands you to do. If you want God’s guidance, then do whatever He says. That’s exactly what His commands are for, to guide you in the way you should go. Obey the Lord. In all things. In all your ways acknowledge Him. Not because His Spirit makes you feel good, which it does. Not because it gives you peace, although it does. Not for power, although He is the very source of all power and authority. Obey Him because He is your sovereign Lord. Obey Him because He is God. Because He is utterly and eternally holy by His own nature. Because He _demands_ such obedience from you. Because to ignore or scoff that demand is to store up God’s judgement and wrath against you. If you live this way, God will surely pour out His Holy Spirit upon you according to His Word in due time according to His own will to do so. That’s up to God.

Good message. I was a little surprised to hear you say that Jesus, the second or last Adam reversed or undid what resulted from the first Adam. Most people today put all kinds of conditions on what Jesus did and many believe that it only applies to a certain few chosen ones (elect). It is refreshing to hear someone affirm that the condition that came upon ALL mankind in Adam was reversed or undone in ALL humanity in Christ the Last Adam. That really is good news.

I love this message. Jesus ministered alot but He Always spoke the truth, even if it was hard to hear. If we all could believe whatever we wanted to it no longer becomes a truth we can count on. There is only one truth, the Word of God. It is inerrant, it can be trusted. And it never changes. That is why we can trust it. Trust Him! Jesus taught us to pray the Lords prayer. Actually Jesus could never pray it because He had no sin. His prayer is in John 17. But when we say the Our Father it is comforting to know the word for Father is ABBA which means daddy. I pray the Lord bless you.

Mr. Washer, I don’t know what’s wrong, but I prayed for you. Prayed that the Lord would give you joy again and to remind you afresh of His love for you And perhaps a gentle reminder that everyone goes through different seasons...is it not written that there is a time for everything under the sun? You had a pack at one time, yes? In college, and was that not a blessing to you? God has blessed the packs that you mentioned, blessed them with each other, is that wrong? I have no doubt that there will come a season in their lives, if they are true men of God, that they will be alone. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He knows how to grow His saints. Paul people need to know how to believe, there's lots of people claim to pray, but the problem is no one know who they pray to, most people don't believe in the power of the holy ghost that christ said that we received by the promise he sent to us, it's a shame when people say they believe in salvation but don't believe that along with that we received the holy ghost and the power that comes along with that , but no one is demonstrating the power, the power is the real manifestation of the God, that's why many are preaching the bible , but no real conversions , the holy ghost is the real praise of God when it does it through what we have received by God ,

In the fledgling church - yes, these were Paul's admonitions. But no longer - the church is now founded and is no longer fledgling - in addition - we have what they did not have - the completed canon of scripture. These days to find the mind of God - we go to the word of God.

Luke 13:1-5 New Living Translation A Call to Repentance 13 About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple. 2 “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? 3 Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. 4 And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? 5 No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.”

I committed the sin of revelation 22:18-19... I deliberately and intentionally one time In my youth recorded a Bible verse when texting messaging someone when we were arguing. I was in a dark place and time of anger. I want to repent.. im remorseful for what I done.. I wouldn't dare do it again. But I don't think God will forgive me. I'm sad and desperate.. but when I look to the cross something points me away... as if it's not for me I crossed the line. I've confessed it and repented. It wasn't till years later I heard the TRUE Gospel and understood it. Is there hope? Or did God take My part out of the book of life? Is it irrevocable? Or unforgivable?

Jordan, you say "when I look to the Cross something points me away..." and that something would be UNBELIEF. Whatever feelings of unbelief you have, are they anything in comparison to the many promises of God to forgive those who come to Him? You say you have done some great sin, but what about our great Savior and His finished work on the Cross? Why not look there rather than at yourself? Look at His offer to the sinner: Revelation 22:17 - And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. - Yet the issue is as John 5:40 - you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life. -- Come to Christ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4O5cqZ4ot-fe5o

You have made heaven and earth. 2 Kings 19:15. World English Bible. Job 23:13: BUT HE ALONE IS GOD, and who can oppose him? God does as he pleases. Christianity, supposedly the religion based on the 10 commandments. The eternal covenant Yahuah. The Supreme God, the Creator. The First 4 read 1) I am Yahuah your Elohiem, the Elohiem that brought you out a Mitsrayim ( House of Bondage) have no other before my face.( In other words Pray to me alone) Who is JESUS? 2) Do not bow to idols. (What's a Cross? Who is JESUS?) 3) Do not cast the name of Yahuah your Elohim to ruin. (Again Who is JESUS?) 4) Remember the Shabbat keep it Qodesh ( set apart and Holy) what's this Sunday worship all about? When asked what is the greatest commandment Yahusha said, to love Yahuah Elohiem, with all your mind, all your soul, and everything that is within you. The first four commandments ,tell you how to love Yahuah Elohiem. WHAT'S going on? What's everybody doing? Who Changed the One and only name? The name Above all name's? Can we substitute name's, If there's only 1 name? Can a woman be Half Pregnant? Can we eat at the Father's Table, and Mamon's Table? Does the Elohiem that the Christian Church Worships, Have the same insecurities that a mortal man does? I mean Does the Creator need our lip service? Does YAH have insecurities like a man does, Or is this more like the way Satan wants to be worshiped, needing the praises of men. Does the Creator of everything, get something out of us having a ceremony? A ceremony, to help make ourselves feel better than everybody else? How does making ourselves feel good Glorify Him? How does Puffing ourselves up with our own vanity serve Him? How does getting all dolled up, putting on a act, going into a building with idols in it, holding others above, others, having respect of persons, Glorifying to the Father? The Creator of Everything doesn't need our lip service. What Does the Creator of Everything Get out of you telling him How great he is? Does that add to his greatness? Does anyone think that any fancy words uttered in a building, Benefits The Creator of Everything? Don't you think a random act of kindness towards one of his other creations is more Glorifying to him? Does anyone think that talking down, or looking down on Others Because they Don't believe in Christianity. Glorifies Yahuah? Isn't service to Others less fortunate than you, more Glorifying to the Father than showing off your material goods. Going around telling people, these are blessings from from the Father. Is there anything Physical, that You can do for the father, other than show your love to him, and his other Creations? Through love, Obedience and service to Others. That's How we worship the Father.

@@mrmigsII Christianity has created a human false image of Yahusha named “Jesus Christ” who is the false messiah. Jesus Christ, or the Antichrist, false messiah. John identified the names “Jesus” and “Christ” in Revelation Chapter 13. John used the mark, the monogram, and the Christogram of Jesus Christ when he wrote down the Greek symbol Revelation 13 The Beast out of the Sea 13 The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea (sea serpent )…17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark , which is the name of the beast or (rather) the symbol of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom (to discern the Christogram). Let the person who has (spiritual) eyes to see reckon up the (pictogram of the) symbol of the beast that identifies him, for it is the symbol of a man. That symbol is What John saw and wrote down is the symbols for Jesus Christ written all over Christianity for the past 2000 years: Anyone who elevates the image of a man known by his monogram i.e. Hesus Horus Krishna (Jesus H. Christ) in their hearts as God above Yahuah will be given over by Yahuah to believe a lie. That very lie is that The Law has been abolished by the incarnation of God in the image of Jesus H. Christ. The Spirit of the False Messiah is anyone who denies that Yahusha was a mere man (came in the flesh): 1 John 4: 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from Yahuah, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of Yahuah: every spirit that confesses that Messiah Yahusha has come in the flesh (a man) is from Yahuah; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Yahusha has come in the flesh (but says Jesus is God or The Trinity) is not from Yahuah; this is the spirit of the antichrist (or False Messiah. The False Messiah is an image of a man worshipped above Yahuah as God) … 12 No one has seen Yahuah at any time! Yahuah is not a man, that he should lie (Yahusha was fully human Hebrews 2:17); neither the son of man (Yahusha was called the son of man in the NT 87 times), that he should repent (Yahusha was Mikveh’de i.e. baptized by John for repentance).Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Hosea 11:9 I will not carry out my fierce anger, nor will I devastate Ephraim again. For I am Yahuah, and not a man 1 John 4:1-3; 12 4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from Yahuah, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of Yahuah: every spirit that confesses that Messiah Yahusha has come in the flesh (a man) is from Yahuah; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Yahusha has come in the fleshis not from Yahuah; this is the spirit of the antichrist (or False Messiah. The False Messiah is an image of a man worshipped above Yahuah as Yahuah) …12 No one has seen Yahuah at any time! Only in union with the Father, spirit communicating with Spirit, can proof of His reality be found. Yet, because things are as they are, Truth must ever be veiled from man as man. But who would labour, if labourers were paid whether they worked or not? Were they revealed to him, the ignorant man would not comprehend great things, therefore the light is not for him. The insincere and shallow seeker after diversion and pleasure will find little entertainment in these words. The really illuminated man will already know something of the Truth and will therefore seek it more diligently along a higher path. So these words are given just for those sincere seekers who are aware of their own shortcomings and ignorance. These will be people whose thoughts are not smothered by prejudice, who are not set in their opinions. For who among men is the most confirmed in his opinions? There are those whose idea of righteousness is mumbled words and repetitious prayers. Their souls are warped with selfish desires and their Heaven is the fulfilment of these. Their prayers are pleas for pleasure or power, for freedom from the things which develop the spirit. The lovers of pleasure and power delight in following the path of their own inclinations, they build a creed of their own desires.
