It's, actually, not a bad idea because of how different each state and the people within them are, whether it be economically, geographically, culturally, etc.

The problem is they are Interfering with the constitution. Our federal government,ent was never meant to have the power it does. I for one cannot stand the federal government. We are too big and too varied in our cultures to be ruled by one government for all. What works for weirdos in California does not work for us here in the southeast. Many other examples can be made like that. It is called the United States for a reason.

The only justifiable restriction on the Second Amendment, to me, are weapons that the State will never, under _any_ circumstance, employ against its own people on its own soil. If the Government will, with reasonable amount of speculation, point a weapon at us, we should have the right to point the very same weapon back at them.

I think there are 2 reasonable restrictions. First, is that the militia is beholden to the same treaties and conduct of warfare as our military, that being no bio or chemical weapons, and even no proliferation of new nuclear warheads. 2nd, I believe the milita should be restricted from indirect fire weapons, artillery - mortars, etc... (with the exception of guided munitions like the SWITCHBLADE drone) the militia should without restriction or qualification have access to any kind of direct fire weapon or line of sight weapon, from WWII style towed anti-tank guns to man portable air defense systems, M1 abrams (tanks), TOW missiles, Javelins, machineguns, Infantry Fighting Vehicles, etc... - the reason for this restriction is actually more practical than you might expect, and it's that any weapon which needs advanced mathematics and such specialized training to properly hit your target, with the capacity to miss by so much, obviously would require licensing which would have a training and certification process attached to it.

Succinctly, as the founding fathers themselves put it: the militia is every able-bodied person of fighting age capable of holding a weapon. So basically everyone in their teens and up with at least one arm is the definition of militia, and it's for their sake, NOT their restricted use that the civilians right to bear arms is protected from the government. And yes, well regulated, regulation in this context referring to how equiped you are. 2A literally says, a well armed civilian populace being essential to freedom, the civilian's right to bear weaponry shall not be restricted by the government.

They are doing it just like Washington state did last week. They know that it will be overturned, but they hope that it will be in force during the time that it goes through the courts. And that will take years. Typically that has been the case, where they get to enforce it. But with the clear directions from SCOTUS, hopefully the courts are granting injunctions to prevent these clearly unconstitutional laws from going into effect while working their way through the courts.

They just passed an assault weapons ban in Washington state last week. Our state constitution says "“[t]he right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired..." So our wonderful state did an assault weapons ban, and in the law they passed, they said that assault weapons are not used or useful for self defense, and then banned them.

Because of a Supreme Court doctrine called "Chevron deference." It basically allows administrative agencies to make rules that have the force of law and the court defers to the expertise of the agency. It needs to be overturned.

It can be, but it would require 2/3 of the states, which it isn't even close to having. So technically, it can be amended, but in practice, at least for the foreseeable future, it won't be.

I kind of see what you are saying, but in practice, I do not believe that to be true. It says the right to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed, and any amendment to the constitution, that infringes the right to keep and bear arms is in violation of it. Don't think laws/amendments work that way though. If you repeal some law, or amendment, it stops being in effect the second you repeal it.
