Nebraska fan here. I will say that Illinois is better than initially advertised. I will also add that Nebraska has more work to do than I thought as well. I think that both teams could POTENTIALLY win 8+ games. Illinois schemed the hell out of Nebraska defense, and they were not able to adjust, which is why they lost. However, we could easily be having a different conversation if Nebraska would have been able to make a field goal, or if we would have been able to complete an easy TD pass. That just highlights how evenly matched those two teams were up to the OT period, where Nebraska simply ran out of gas. GG Illinois, good luck this week with PSU, it'll be a tough one but I think they have the tools to complete the upset. GBR!

NE fans lets not overreact.. Illinois is legit, we will see how legit with their schedule these next few weeks but still, we knew at some point we were gunna get gut checked, Dylan misses a throw he hits 90% of the time and has some freshman bloopers while in the same breath putting the team on his back. Defense gets turnovers and some key stops while in the same breath giving up TD's to the same TE concept like 3 times and can't stop the run, and we all know about our kicking woes... We didn't play a complete game and it showed but it's also a lot to learn from. GG to Illinois I hope you guys ball out and NE we will be fine still can get 8 wins.

This is also a nice game to have for Illinois, a tough road game at night against a quality team with a tough atmosphere. This will help them going to PSU next week for a night game at Beaver Stadium, which will be rocking.

Both of these teams are on the rise. I do think however that Illinois is a very mentally touch team, a reflection of its coach. This is not to put down Nebraska, but Illinois just made fewer mistakes and was more consistent. Ill's QB played a great game.

Nebraska's defense is not "near elite." This game proved it. I suspected a dropoff from last year might happen, and here we are.

I agree I think the defense was overrated, UNI showed it and Illinois exposed it. I think we can still be good but when the fans and media build you up it just sets them up for a let down. Better team won.

Congrats. I had Illinois Winning. Dylan is gonna be amazing for Nebraska as long as they fix the OL and run game. Dude needs help. Hes not gonna win games on his own. Illinois was the better team. However Illinois struggled to get pressure on Dylan all game outside of the last 5 mins. PSU isn't nebraska. Happy Valley is worlds tougher than Lincoln and louder. Franklin Calling for a whiteout. Illinois beat Penn St at Happy Valley, a few years ago, in a record 9 Overtime victory. So this Illinois team is much better than that Illinois team. I think Illinois will make this a game.

Didn’t really learn anything. Both teams are what we thought they were. Refs were worth 10+ points for ILL overall but just terrible in general. Raiola misses a wide open TD that he hits 99/100 times. NEB RB blows a TD. NEB kicker flubs a 35 yarder, etc. It was ILL’s night that’s all we learned. NEB could just as easily win by 10+ in a rematch with different officials. I don’t think there was a single post snap penalty on ILL.

You could argue if they call the face mask on Nebraska at the end of first half, Illinois wins in regulation. Officials had little impact on the game overall…Illinois made plays when they had to, Nebraska didn’t.

Here are couple of takeaways from a die hard huskers fans: 1) IL's passing game is very very good, NE's secondary is useless. 2) IL's rushing game is better than NE in this game. 3) NE special team sucks. 4) NE defense didn't show up, I think there were too much hype on Huskers and they did not prepare good enough when they facing some adversaries. 5) Dylan is very good, NE passing is good. OL needs to take a good rest. With that being said, I predict NE finishing 8-4 this season. Losing to Indiana, Ohio State and USC.

Nebraska was an 8 point favorite and many expected them to win. Illinois proved that they are better than initally thought, or Nebraska proved they're worse, perhaps a bit of both. Personally, I think it was a hard fought, evenly matched game until OT when Nebraska ran out of gas. As a Nebraska fan I was disappointed, but as a football fan I'm glad we saw a great game.

I don't think Illinois is super great but they more balanced now. Penn st should beat them fairly easy but they still decent. I think nebraska is a good solid 8-4 team as well.

Ha, I've listened to so many fans of teams illinois played this year say the same thing. I even believed them myself, was sure they would lose to Kansas, definitely sure they would lose to Nebraska. Not making that mistake anymore. No one knows what's going to happen in the Penn State game.
