Alastair I’m so glad that you found this video. Please consider subscribing because there’s a lot of this sort of stuff that I’m focusing on in Illustrator right now that I think you’re going to really enjoy. And check out some of my more recent uploads as there’s some really interesting stuff on Expand and Expand Appearance and some other sort of troubleshooting videos that contain information that’s not readily available.

Hi. Is it possible tu cut all nodes at a time? For example a hexagon and have every six lines separate at the same time and not to touch every node tu cut?

Thanks -cool! But if i have a rectangle - how can i devide this shaper into 4 lines without hand work? Yes i can do it by scissors but there can be some shape that has 100 sides and it will be hard to devide it in 100 lines by hand

Hi Helen. I love your videos. You always have a wealth of knowledge. I know this tutorial did not talk about the knife tool but it is a cutting tool so i need to ask something about it if you dont mind. I recently used the knife tool in one of my print designs and when i go in outline mode i can see the cut line. Is that ok or is there a way to remove it before finalizing the project

Appreciate your tutorial but how would one cut through objects containing [multiple paths] such as a decorative border?
@crajshree3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tutorial. I tried this on a compound path, it is not working. Can you help me out?

Great question. For that you can't use the scissors tool but I have a video coming out late next week that will show you how it is done.

Yeah it’s something that you don’t often need to do but when you do need to do it you can really get stumped very quickly.

I am sorry but I don't understand the question? The video has narration - if you aren't hearing it, maybe check your output device? If it is something else that you think that I can help with, please give me some more information so I can understand your issue with this video.

Does not work at me..
@HelenBradley4 жыл бұрын
It should work for you. There’s absolutely no reason that it would not. Start with a brand new document and create a very simple shape like a circle and then try the tools. If you’re not selecting the anchor point with the scissors tool then you’ll need to be more accurate and find the anchor point by hovering over it. It’s just a case of taking your time and practicing with really simple shapes. I feel sure that you’re going to get this if you just give it another shot. Let me know how you go.
