Nice and simple tutorial. And no need to worry about your English; it's perfectly fine and you communicate what the viewer needs to know far better than I've seen in many tutorials made by people who has it as their first language. Well done.

Awesome Tutorial! As I was putzing around with this in Illustrator, I realized you can adjust the gradient of the original shape AFTER you've applied the halftone effect, this adjusts the sizes and spaces of the dots! Seemed easier than adjusting the 'max radius' of the halftone effect in order to get a tighter or looser effect.

A "halftone" is actually old technology from commercial printing. Printing presses couldn't print continuous shades of color. All photos had to be converted to a halftone screen pattern - tiny little dots of color that give the illusion of gradients in color.
@TheLimeCurd5 жыл бұрын
HELP!! When I apply the Color Halftone effect, the result is not the same as the video. The gradation is expressed with Black-Grey colors in identical size of dots, instead of the SIZE of the dots as shown in the video. Does anyone know how to change this? Using Illustrator 2020 version.

Hi, I am no expert in Ilustrator but know a little of P.shop....When in Tracing under adjustments, you have a threshold setting, lowering this a small amount may well have eliminated the small cirlce dents, quite possibly the line will be fine tuned around the alaisiated edges giving a more circular finish???

Sorry, I should say I was starting with a black circle with radial gradiet applied, but still only get black only dots. Should I start with a gradiented black dot which is not pure black? Also I've been trying to apply it to letter forms (converted to outlines with gradient applied) but not getting much results. Any tips greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

when you lined the CMYK dots, it became all black, but at the same time you lost the circle shape, it's a bit edgy, a solution that I found for that, is keeping the angles default, but using only K and dropping CMY.. So is that a good thing to do? GREAT tutorial, helped me A LOT with my project, thanx

I guess its better to offset the gradient stop a bit of the edges. Now the circle, if you need a circular shape, has flat edges. Of setting that gradient stop will make a more perfect round circle

Hi Joao, I am experimenting with this tool, I used the tool Rasterbator to do it before, but it recently shut down. My goal is to have only black dot with no intersections. It is important because it is going to be a facade perforation on a building and if those dots are too big, they become a big hole - and I need to avoid that. Is there a way to control it, so the dots dont interfere with each other? thx, Z

Hey thanks for the awesome tutorial! I was wondering though if it is possible to make the half tone effect to make the dots that are on the edge of the object whole. For example, in the blend object that you did in the end the dots nearest to the edge of the object are cut in half because the object finishes there and presumably to avoid a "blurring" effect, is there any way to avoid this? Again thanks for the awesome tutorial!
@jamesraward9 жыл бұрын
2 options, 1) do that manually or 2) there is a tutorial that you could apply to this to achieve what you want here: vektorgarten.de/align-and-distribute-pathfinder.html (not my tutorial, but I used this and the video above to achieve what I wanted)
