Hey I just wanted to say my first video ever was 4 yrs ago. I accidentally bought a Chromebook not knowing I couldn’t run illustrator. I figured out how to use Linux to run Inkscape. And I watched ur videos on Inkscape constantly. Since then I’ve not only “graduated” to Adobe but I’ve also built a fairly successful print shop with a lot of new equipment. It all started with Logos by Nick. And today I’m back watching a video by Nick about the width tool. Look the point is…. Thank You! Your videos aided in me changing me life as well as my family’s. It's not possible with AD unfortunately. The workaround would be to create custom brushes.

Sorry Nick, I have to disagree with you, even though I really appreciate your work and don't know half as much about vector design as you do. I just tried it, it is very easy to do in Affinity Designer. You start with a circle, no fill, just stroke obviously. Convert to curves, use the pressure adjustment to make the variable width planet stroke, duplicate to make the orbit. Expand appearance and then it's literally the same workflow with the Affinity shape builder tool as with the Illustrator shape builder.
