As someone who will grow up to have all their teeth removed watching videos like this is comforting in a way. I have a mouth condition that we found out about when I was 7 the mouth condition causes my teeth to rot uncontrollably no matter how much I brush. I’m constantly in pain in my mouth that can give me migraines it’s horrible having this pain that will never go away. Awe, loopy Illy at the beginning is just so precious; couldn’t help but giggle along with your mom as you were talking. Yeah I had braces too so I definitely feel your pain on things you’re not supposed to eat, though on a slightly random note I learned how to carve chunks out of an apple with a spoon to eat them thanks to my braces so there were some amusing parts of having them… I have other stories but I’d be here a while and I doubt anyone wants that long of a comment. Im very fortunate in that my wisdom teeth have never decided to pop out, I was told by a dentist that they’re up there but they’re not moving at the moment so there’s no need to take them out… which I’m VERY grateful for.

But our dentist only uses numbing medicine and doesn't use any sleeping gas, so I'm a bit nervous for getting mine out I can completely relate to the jaw thing though, but I have a mouth device and now my jaw occasionally hurts

I got four wisdom teeth out and I was supposed to get the sleeping gas, but they didn't tell me not to eat, so I got the numbing needles. It was fine, the worst part was just sounds, so if you have something to listen to, that might help.

It's so wild to me that at least Americans think anaesthesia is a necessity when taking out wisdom teeth. I got 3/4 removed with basic numbing, didn't hurt one bit and it was quickly over. The last tooth was left in because it wasn't pushing out or anything.

For anyone who has a choice between Invisalign and braces I strongly recommend Invisalign, you can still eat popcorn, caramel, and all that. Plus it’s a lot less painful. It can also make it easier to play some instruments. With Invisalign you only get a bit of a sore jaw for about an hour to a day after switching trays, depending on how often you wear them.

I’ll probably have to go to the dentist soon and I’m terrified of them. In my country the recession is causing most people to not even get a dentist practice because it costs like £500 for just a checkup. I’m 11 and my wisdom teeth are growing in and it’s pushing another stool into my mouth wich is grating on my tongue. That means it’s a pain to brush and there’s a small cavity there and I’m worried. Tbh I think having total anaesthesia and waking up like you would make it funny and it makes me feel better about it. I probably also need braces. I always loved going to the dentist and was never scared of it, I recently had 4 of my teeth with cavities healed without any local anesthesia and the first two didn't hurt at all. Yo! Pro Tip: when you go in for any surgery. Be sure that you go to the bathroom BEFORE they put you under. Or at the very least have someone take you to the bathroom as you are snapping out of your dazed state after waking up. I had to get 6-no i did not mistype. 6 wisdom teeth extracted when i was in high school and just as i was waking up i needed to pee. But my clouded head couldn't make heads or tails of where the bathroom was in relation to my location in the room i just left. So i tried to ask where the bathroom was but...the floodgates burst. I was just lucid enough to feel ashamed of leaving a puddle in at the dentist office but the dentist and my mom realized they were the ones at fault for not having me use the restroom before putting me under.

Edit: Just wanted to say to anyone getting braces or teeth pulled that it's no that bad, don't worry! Braces hurt a lot at first but after about a week you should be fine. Also with teeth pulling when they numb your gums with the needles it just feels like slight pins and needles in your gums, not painful. The worst part is your mouth being completley numb afterwards for like 3 hours.

You know I got mine on last year and also had 4 teeth removed prior so that was something. I’m getting them off next year so I should be ok but… my wisdom teeth started growing in TODAY. I hope it dosent effect the process and I can get them out soon but hey, im not scared of the dentist and I’ve gotten 4 teeth removed, what’s 2 wisdom teeth?

Ive had a similar experience! As a child I got all 4 of my baby canines pulled out (i also thought they looked cool like fangs) and later my last baby molar. I had braces for 2 years in middle school, and i just had my wisdom teeth extracted a week ago.

As someone who just had their wisdom teeth removed two weeks ago, something you dont realize until AFTER the surgery is how difficult it is to have a completely balanced diet with only soft foods This caused me to have a fun hour on the toilet about a week into recovery because I barely ate anything with fibre So i can confidently say that wisdom teeth surgery gave me diarrhea and no one can tell me otherwise

You know I had an impacted tooth, and then later had my wisdom teeth removed but never both at once cannot imagine how awful that would be (although for me the impacted tooth surgery hurt waaaaaay more after than wisdom teeth). Personally i was never scared of the dentist cause i had to go to the orthodontist quite a bit, and braces are such a pain. But ive always just closed my eyes and been calm at the dentist, i was a strange kid. But i understand the fear of it.

I went through almost 6 years of orthodontic treatment: two different sets of braces, block spacer retainer, headgear, elastics, springs, and a regular retainer. When I got to the end of it all they told me I still had an overbite and offered a surgery where they litterally break your jaw and move it for you to fix an overbite...I said "HELL NO". I'll live with the permanent TMJ thank you.

Oh, hey, same! I have a small mandible, and went through every type of tooth-fixing gadget...only to be told, "yeah, you need spacers in your jaw cause it's janky". Part of me kind of wishes I'd gone through with it (I have chronic pain and intermittent hearing loss from my jaw), but...eh. I'm managing.
