If you put a bell behind the dummy villager the farmer will go and throw his crops at the villager more frequently because the "new" villagers have schedule and at the end of their work session they will travel to the centre of a village where the bell is located to interact with the other villagers so adding a bell will force it everyday to share its crops to the villagers making the farm more efficient

Confirmed working in Java 1.16.2. I built one layer of 4 cells. The rates are decent, but slightly less than ilmango's. So I made 2 cells carrot and the other 2 potato and I get about 300-320 from each farm per hour. I get about 1200-1300 total items per hour with 4 cells.

You can further increase the efficiency a little bit by moving the 4 water holes to the sides (below the walls). This is done by adding another 4 water sources (8 + 1 in total) in stairs that are closed to the sides with trap doors.

I don't know how he missed that but the farm can be expanded by 1 block in every direction (2:38). Also you can hide water in the walls. *Update:* So I did that "uncut" (4:46) version of the farm with a bell, water hidden in walls and expanded by 1 block which added 44 blocks of farmland and after afk-ing for 2 hours the farm produced about 9 stacks + 32 carrots so about *300 carrots/h.* But note that I was afk-ing, so if you're actually playing and sleeping during nights you can probably get *600 carrots/h* from one worker.

Okay, if anyone else are/were having problems with this farm (I'm in 1.14.4), I think I found the solution. I believe it has something to do with their pathfinding, but only in survival, in creative it works just fine for some unknown reason. The villagers can pathfind through the trapdoors, the villager and the hopper minecarts, but when they get to the trapdoors they get "stuck" and it takes a very very long time before they move. To fix this we need to break that path. What I did to get it to work was this: Build the farm, but instead of hoppers down the middle do hopper minecarts down the sides, like this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2KbaoeHjMeKfNU But before you put in the last side, get a villager in the middle (make sure he can't pathfind to any of the composters/ or make them all be occupied before getting him in), and push a glass block in at his feet! (not his head or it won't work), put a blog in above his head so he won't escape, and put the last 2 hopperminecarts in and VOILA! It works. NB! For another unknown reason my villagers are not happy about sharing their wheat, the will harvest it and when their inventories are full it will just float on the ground, but their very rarely share it with the middle villager. I hope this helps others facing the same problems =)

However, if the villager is lazy and doesn't do anything, wait a day or two (and check if you got anything), since villagers work based on which tick of the day it is (so every day at tick X they will do act Y). I surely am planning to build this farm in my own survival world!

Hi guys buil this farm in my latest snapshot (20w20b) followed it prety much 100% as far as im aware, only have one layer with the 4 sections and i have a few issues dont know if anyone else came accross them, 1. middle villager keeps stealing the work bench somehow, so i decided to trade lock the other villagers but then the midle villager becomes a farmer anyway not sure if this is causing any problems i my next couple of points. 2. farm seems to be only working when im really close to it i mean within 10 blocks or so it seemed that way at the start as it will no longer produce any carrots at times when im afk directly underneath it, beside the collection system its running on my personal server no mods only have 1 or 2 other people connect to it, anyone else ran into anything similar and may have a fix thought it could be my server configuration but its just the latest vanila snapshot great videos by the way love your builds

@@Angi_Mathochist I think they do..actually the bell locations decides the gather point of all the villagers.( Yes villagers gather to their nearest bells if possible before night time). So in this farm the bell makes the farmer villagers to go near the centre villager a little more often than usual due to the bell and give them more carrots. But the farm will work perfectly fine without the bells, just with little decrease in rates . Bells are easy to get( toolsmith, weaponsmith )so why not use them to get better rates

1.15.2 My farm is really *_really_* slow. I built a 4 pod farm 3 days (real world days) ago and I have one and a half double chests of carrots and potatoes. Farm is in spawn chunks so should be working 24/7. Sometimes it can go hours without and crops being produced. The farmers move about planting crops and go to 'meet' with the central villager but nothing is being deposited.

No. The farmer villager will share their resources with other villagers regardless of their profession to make sure all the beds in an area are occupied.

I recently built a very similar crop farm, and I have some important information to share. If you build this farm with the four diagonally adjacent cells, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT grow different crops in each of the four cells, especially if you intend to include beetroots or wheat! If you do want to grow crops with that arrangement, then shift each cell outward from the center by one block, so that the dividing walls are double-layered. Otherwise, farmers in one cell with an empty inventory slot may pick up seeds from an adjacent cell. This will result in carrots and potatoes being completely replaced by wheat and beetroots. Also, if you do want to grow wheat and beetroots, you can modify the design by running a hopper minecart under the farmland to collect anything the farmer misses.

@@EMorner I built this in a new world yesterday and it works. Just give it 10 to 20 minutes to "warm up" then it should go. Give the villager carrots as well, like 12 or something.

@@TheDevilPlayGames I've build it 3 times and gave them some hours. I found a fix that works for me (see other comments). Will your villagers harvest and deliver wheat? because mine will only harvest but keeps it all for themselves - greedy bastards =)

The owner of the multiplayer server I am on for some reason artificially limited villager farming rates to make it more difficult for players. I wasted ages trying to figure out why the farm wasn't working properly, turns out the allegedly "vanilla" server is not vanilla at all. Sorry for the wrong info!
