ILOILO CITY has a small population (approx. 450thousand) compared to the bigger cities like Cebu and Manila and yet it has plenty of big and sleek shopping malls. It's because its population is mostly middle to upper middle class, and these are the people who can afford to sustain these luxurious sleek malls.
@Willtravelz7 ай бұрын
I did not know that. I was really wondering why a "smaller" less traveled city ( compared to Cebu and manila) can be more expensive or same cost as those cities. I find stuff even cheaper in Cebu and even Makati at times than some stuff in iloilo.

Exactly! My sister has 4 cars and our neighbours in our village have atleast 2-3 cars. Seamen's wives and working professionals in other countries.

Nice, I like cebu. It's a good mix of the feel of a bigger city but now all the downsides of a big city. Plus it's easy to get from cebu to other cities like Iloilo, Bacolod and dumaguete.. once again thanks for watching. 👍👍

Yes plus I realized how much I value space. In Philippines they can love in so much smaller spaces. I wish I could settle for smaller size rentals I would save a lot of money. But something in me can't accept it. Haha.

I loved iloilo in 2022. It wasn't as good this time as 2022, but I did stay in different area. I might visit it again down the road. I still had a good time.

Impossible. Iloilo City is 30 years behind Cebu or Manila. Improving and developing in its unique and "cute" ways. hehe and I am Ilonggo myself. Born and raised here in Iloilo City hehe

@@millennialbaby5632 I loved iloilo back in 2019. But it seems they got rid of all the food carts that were down at sm Delgado mall area. It seemed prices went up and also I stayed in a different area this time (near the festive walk) last time I stayed by the river.
@armandosune38396 ай бұрын
If you notice, many of the drivers and security guards in Iloilo are not Ilonggos, mostly Bisaya ftom orher provinces. Its because many young Ilonggo men and women would rather take up Seamanship or Nursing - these are courses that are high paying.

@@Willtravelz what she/ he said is true Iloilo City population is less than 500k and yet it's progressive it's the only City in the Philippines that has 68% Middles class population less than 7% poverty recorded
@Willtravelz8 күн бұрын
@@freedom-qm5wj yeah it's crazy that iloilo is a decent amount more expensive than surrounding cities or other cities across the Philippines. I'm not really sure why besides what you just mentioned. But for what you get in iloilo compared to a city like Bacolod it doesn't make sense or translate to the same value of quality and price. I was actually pretty shocked and happy with the prices in Bacolod compared to iloilo.
@freedom-qm5wj8 күн бұрын
@@Willtravelz yeah it's a bit expensive compared to the other Cities here in Philippines Iloilo has the Highest Number of Seafarers and Nurses abroad Out of 33 Billion remittance from Ofw's Iloilo contribute 15 Billion almost a half
@Willtravelz8 күн бұрын
@@freedom-qm5wj it seems like what I realized is that the Philippines is unfairly jacked up in price because it's one of the only places in the world were so many people leave the country to get jobs somewhere else and yet send their money back. This means there's an unnatural amount of Western money that comes back to the Philippines which drives up the price of the Philippines local economy unfairly. If there was no overseas workers sending their money back to the Philippines from Western countries the Philippines would be a lot cheaper.

A lot of people, even the Filipinos themselves forgets or don't know. Iloilo is where old money came from. Not Cebu. Manila is where they dump their taxes. If you take out the business owned by Ilonggos and Visayans. Manila will be bankrupt. Or even pay the taxes, where they earned a profit. Like the Robinsons Mall you visited. They pay taxes in Manila, not in Iloilo City. The sugar cane industry in Negros Island, pays their due in Manila. One of the reason progress is slow in the provinces. The sugar cane magnates are from Iloilo.
@Willtravelz6 ай бұрын
Wow did not know that. I couldn't understand why Iloilo had money and was kind or expensive compared to close by cities.

The Rockerfellers, Carnegies and Vanderbilts of Iloilo are all gone. The 3rd and 4th generations have different last names and different endeavors. There ancestral homes are still standing. Most of them are based in Manila or the US. @@Willtravelz

You kept referring to the Philippines as "Asia". I know that is what people have accepted, but there is very little about Filipinos that is Asian. Asian countries are very very different in the way they think. In the PI, it's mostly Catholic and Western, but it is as conservative as Asia. The other roots are many, including Indonesia, China, aboriginal, and others. A lot of Spanish blood. They aren't "Asian", in my book. They are Filipino, and it is its own thing entirely. Special, gentle, kind of childish, people.
@Willtravelz6 ай бұрын
Yes you are right. But it's mostly because I dint stay in one country. I will be going to Vietnam shortly. That's kind of why I refer to it as Asia.
