I'm surprised but delighted at the transformation of La Paz Church. La Paz Church has one of the most beautiful colorful new classic-designed Retablos in ILOILO CITY and PROVINCE. Notice the colorful details in the Main Retablo - there are tiny swatches of green, red, etc in the beautiful details ot the La Paz Church Main Altar and Side Altars, and the Altar Table. The Parish Priest responsible for the beautiful major renovation) restoration of the La Paz District Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje ( Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage) is Fr. Renato Cuadras, who is now assigned at the Pavia Church of Santa Monica in Pavia, Metro Ilollo. Fr. Renato Cuadras is also responsible for the beautiful new restoration of the Pavia Parish Church of Santa Monica.

Well now you have another reason to come back and visit the Philippines ✌️. BTW the Batchoy is really really good, and you will find iloilo city so different from the other cities in the country. @InvestedAdventure yes it is the city of love of the Philippines because of how soft their dialect sounds, its Hiligaynon. Fun fact: just recently Iloilo city became UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, so Yummy foods haha

Just in case you come back to Iloilo City, Visit Arevalo District also. Go to the seaside and you will be delighted with array of seafood restaurants. If there is Milo Mansion, there is also Arevalo Mansion or Villa Mansion. It is newly restored and it is not yet well known to everyone. It is also beautiful. By the way, Lizares Mansion, Agatona 1927 and Balay Remedios, all Heritage Houses in Iloilo City that are open to tourists now

The Villa Arevalo Parish Church is where you can find the third oldest Santo Niño in the Philippines, replica is enshrined at the left Side Altar. The original is kept in the compound of the Parish. It is the Santo Niño de Villa Arevalo Iloilo, brought from Spain to Iloilo in 1581. The oldest is in Cebu (1565); the second oldest is in Tondo, Manila (1571).

The other delightful-tasting La Paz Batchoy dishes in ILOILO include Popoy's (my current favorite), Ted's, Deco's, Netong's, Inggo's (at Magsaysay village in La Paz, beside the IloIlo Sports Complex). There are also delicious versions in Santa Barbara, which I still have to try. And now, i have to try the Alicia's version when i get back to ILOILO, someday.

Try as well visiting museums in Iloilo like the museum of Ph maritime history or the national museum of the Ph Western visayas region. And they’re all free. Or visit garin farm, waterworld Iloilo, snorkeling in Guimaras. Try eating in century old houses. Kayaking in Iloilo River, Biking the esplanades. Visiting local public markets( all are under renovation) if you had enough you can travel to boracay as well for more adventure

Sadly I never had the chance to visit the museums but I jogged in esplanade everyday when I was there, it was awesome. I also visited Garin farm and I was so surprised by the last part of the tour. All the other things you mentioned are reasons for me to go back to Iloilo in the future ✌️🙂. Thank you

Seeing your Swedish friend dip the Iloilo manapla Puto in the La Paz Batchoy sauce made me suddenly hungry and raring to get back to ILOILO! Question - Why does La Paz Batchoy taste different when eaten outside ILOILO?

Hahaha yea the Puto manapla is better if dipped in the Batchoy and I think Batchoy is better in Iloilo because of the local ingredients, meat tastes different in different places... Maybe 🤔
