Wow really hard to say. I’ve seen everything from $1/ct (very cheap) to $80/hr (very expensive) Really depends on your market, your economy, your skill level, and your customer base.

How would you recommend cutting a chunk of amber?

Hmm, I am not sure. I have not cut amber before. I wonder if it would look interesting as a faceted stone. It has a bit of a low RI and probably would perform very well. Possibly a rose cut for something unique that isn't the same old cabochon but could still use a similar shape.

@@JustinKPrim interesting. I haven’t seen one. Atleast I don’t think. A lot of the stones I find dredging for gold look like that. Garnets mostly I think.
