I've noticed that N and M in japanese, especially in vernacular Tokyo's one as in the video, are almost always dropped out with nasalisation of previous vowel. That's interesting coz i hear very often such thing in modern anime

4:49 One of the craziest thing in Japanese is devoicing all し/す in "し/す cluster" such as 「私獅子知ってる」(I know lions.) or 「アリス煤啜ってる」(Alice is sipping soot.), making hardly to count how many し or す are. It is also hard to distinguish between っし/っす and しし/すす. Although it's not always the case and not to devoice しし/すす in anime or games more often (but may still happen), making way that anime or games say is different from reality. I don't know why Japanese people can distinguish between っし/っす and しし/すす without any ploblem as I still can't. What i can do is guessing っし/っす or しし/すす from the context as Japanese omit words as much as possible and "reading the air" i.e. guessing from the context is needed.

@zygmuntnowak8400
@zygmuntnowak8400 Жыл бұрын
The standard Japanese language is based on the early modern (19th-early 20th century) literary form of the Tokyo dialect. This video shows the modern-day spoken Tokyo dialect. These two varieties differ, much like how modern Kyoto dialect differs from Classical Japanese, and they'll probably keep drifting apart over the centuries. (Though some non-standard forms seen in this video may become part of the standard language in the future.)

Standard Japanese is based on the Yamanote dialect of Tokyo. By the way, there are 6 dialects in Tokyo: Yamanote, Edo, Tama(Western Tokyo), Northern Izu Islands, Hachijo, and Ogasawara dialects. Many people come to Tokyo from other regions, locals in Tokyo are becoming more standardized so that people from all regions can understand each other, so sadly don't hear these Tokyo dialects very often. This is the reason why people mistakenly think that Tokyo dialect = Standard Japanese. Even Japanese people.
