The Parthian language, also known as Arsacid Pahlavi and Pahlawānīg, is a now-extinct ancient Northwestern Iranian language spoken in Parthia, a region situated in present-day northeastern Iran and Turkmenistan. Parthian was the language of state of the Arsacid Parthian Empire (248 BC - 224 AD), as well as of its eponymous branches of the Arsacid dynasty of Armenia, Arsacid dynasty of Iberia, and the Arsacid dynasty of Caucasian Albania.
This language had a significant impact on Armenian, a large part of whose vocabulary was formed primarily from borrowings from Parthian; its derivational morphology and syntax was also affected by language contact, but to a lesser extent. Many ancient Parthian words were preserved, and now only survive in Armenian.
Parthian was a Western Middle Iranian language. Language contact made it share some features of the Eastern Iranian language group, the influence of which is attested primarily in loanwords. Some traces of Eastern influence survive in Parthian loanwords in Armenian. Parthian loanwords appear in everyday Armenian vocabulary; nouns, adjectives, adverbs, denominative verbs, and administrative and religious lexicons.
Taxonomically, Parthian, an Indo-European language, belongs to the Northwestern Iranian language group while Middle Persian belongs to the Southwestern Iranian language group.

In Pamir we exactly name the numbers as the author pronounced. The rhythm and frequency of the language is also very close to Pamirian. Moreover the Persian words are pronounced the same way. Thanks to the author.

The real name of the Parthian language is Pahlawānīg (Pahlavi). In post-Islamic Iran, to distinguish between modern Persian and Middle Persian, the former was called Parsi / Farsi and the latter Pahlavi / Fahlavi. At present, Iranians know the Parthian language as the Arsacid Pahlavi and the Middle Persian language as the Sassanid Pahlavi.

Obvious cognates/borrowings in Armenian: hre - yerek (three), frestag - hreshtak (angel), bizisk - bzhishk (doctor), duxt - duxt (old word for daughter), ardaw - ardar (righteous), azd - azd (news/signal), etc.

Interestingly when you browse through the videos about a language family through times, you begin seeing acustic patterns that remain similar: preferences for certain vocals and consonants, the relative quantity of consonants over vocals, special sounds that are characteristic and remain a separating hint in comparison to other language families, the "flow" of a sentence. It's hard to describe but you will always hear the difference between a turkic language and an indoeuropean one.

sometimes heavy areal influence can make different languages sound really similar. South asia is a big example with the retroflexes. Burushaski, indo-aryan languages and dravidian ones sound really similar despite being from different language families. Almost all turkic languages are pretty conservative to proto-turkic phonology "vowel system and vowel harmony and phonotactics" and didn't get influenced heavly by a phonologically different language. chuvash is probably the exciption as it sounds more uralic as it's phonology is heavly influenced by it. Theoritically their can be an "Iranian" sounding turkic language or vice versa by areal influence. A lot of conlangers love to miss with these kind of phonological influence ideas. To know more about the idea in other aspects of linguistics not just phonology search for "sprachbund" u will find a lot of articles about it.

All Turkic languages give off the same "vibe", as do all Austronesian languages imo. But I cannot differentiate Sino-Tibetian, Austroasiatic, Kra-Dai, and Hmong-Mien, its all just complicated tones and short words for me.

My mother tongue is Gilaki. A language spoken in northern Iran (along the Caspian coast). It is classified as a north western Iranian language in a language family group called Caspian languages. Other members of this language family are: Talyshi, Tati, Semnani and Mazani. Some believe these languages are influenced or even descendant of Parthian languages and I can clearly see why.

I'm iranian and the Accent and words of this tounge comes close to Gilaki and other northern Iranian language minorities. As someone who speaks modern Farsi, i understood like 10%! There is a lot of history packed into all languages when you think of it!

Parthian language is just Middle Persian language, the language of Empire that Parthians conquered.

Parthians language may have adopted words from Scythian and massagate but wasn’t a mixture of two language, it is the closest western Iranian language to Scythian language but not a different language, it was close to Scythian but also to persian, they could easily communicate with both, much like the Norwegians can easily communicate with Swedes and Danes, but Swedes and Danes have it a lot harder to understand eachother.
