Hi Guido, do you do gear down at glideslope intercept in any retract, or is this specific to this aircraft? I'm trying to figure out a consistent way to do it (in an Arrow III). Thanks!

The rationale behind is that you add drag before you start your descent (intercepting the glide path). You should be able to maintain the same speed without touching the power. Further speed reduction is later done by lowering the flaps to full. Try this out in your PA28R. Happy Landings, Guido

Thank you! I am glad you enjoy the videos. Flying different aircraft can be a challenge. The jet in the video is covered under the CE-525 (S) type rating. (S) = single pilot. Although you are allowed to fly anything from the CJ1 to the CJ4 with his rating, there are significant differences. Not so much the "flying part", that's all the same. It is more about systems and avionics. If I have not flown a specific aircraft for a while, I take my time to familiarize. Safety is ALWYS first. Happy Landings, Capt. You have certainly a right to your opinion. These jets are designed and certified for single pilot ops and are very easy to fly. I hold a single pilot type rating for the CE-525 (S) and renew this every 12 months. Under the conditions that you are an experienced pilot, have an organized cockpit and work procedural with checklists - I do not see an elevated risk factor for single pilot jet operation. Why does the bank angle indicator register opposite of the turn? For instance left hand turn for vectors resulted in the bank angle indicator registering a right bank?

Hi Sebastian, there are 2 different systems in the market. Normally light aircraft and heavier aircraft display bank angle different. Takes a while to adjust. Both have pros and cons. Google the topic to get background information. Accidents have happened when Russian pilots fly Western aicraft as the artificial horizon display differs. This aircraft tis steered like a C172 with the rudder pedals. Heavier aircraft have an hydraulic nose wheel steering with a tiller. Happy Landings, Guido

Great to see you back Mr. Gudio! The ground flap system is interesting to me. I've always been taught to lift flaps on touch down to reduce the lift off of the wing, increasing the weight on the wheels increasing braking force.

Stephen the flaps go down to 60 deg and are called therefore „ground flaps“ or „lift dump flaps“. I should have pointed that out more clearly in the video. The Hawker Jet HS125 uses a similar system. Google that. Thanks for watching my videos in such detail and Happy Landings, Guido

Lift dump uses both flaps and spoilers to both reduce lift and increase drag. Yes on a plane with no spoilers or extended flap settings it’s better to raise them.
