GoPro Hero 8: How to Connect to External Monitor (TV, Computer Monitor, Projector)

I show you how to connect the GoPro Hero 8 Black to any external monitor as long as it has an HDMI port (TV, computer monitor, projection etc). In order to connect / mirror the GoPro hero 8 you need a media mod which comes included with a micro HDMI port. Note that the GoPro 5, 6, and 7 already come with an micro hdmi port. Now you will also need an hdmi to micro hdmi cable to connect the gopro to the monitor (amzn.to/2vNexc0). Once you connect you can view all your photos and videos on the tv. You can even do a live review and record videos as you wish. Any questions just ask.

Yea hdmi to usb C cable will not work on GoPro 8 but does work on smartphones.

Nice review. I purchased the media mod for the sole purpose of the HDMI out to one of my external video monitors and unfortunately...there is a noticeable delay between the GoPro and the external monitor once you hit record. So vloggers are not going to like that if GoPro doesn't send out a firmware to get rid of that delay when they officially launch their display mod.

There is a firmware update that fixes that, but in the interim you have to turn off the stabilization. You won't need it anyway if you're using it as a webcam.

Just don't buy one. The price sounds decent until you find out you need an extra $300 worth of shit to make it functional. They've removed so many standard essential things, only to offer solutions in the form of overpriced add ons. Between mounts and accessories that came with the package in years past, you'll need to drop around $650-700 to have a functional protected camera with HDMI out. It's just not worth it. Sending this back and buying DJI from here on out. Fuck these guys.

It's ONLY clean HDMI if you use the mod. Period. If you want to use it for streaming, you also need a capture card.

does anyone test to playback 4K 30fps or 60fps on Media Mod micro HDMI port? mine never works only can playback on 1080P not 4K and did try 4-5 different HDMI 2.0 cables and only playback 1080P but not 4K. any suggestions !

But in GoPro 7 mini hdmi port is better, than GoPro 8 media mod hdmi port. And you cannot buy a media mod to spend your money, connect you GoPro 7 with internal hdmi port.

For some reason it wouldn't show up on my computer monitor. I'm running windows 10 & I have the HDMI plugged in and everything. When I plug the micro HDMI into my GoPro the screen turns black, but then nothing happens on my computer.

Because the hdmi on your computer is out only. For input you have to by a capture device

Hey thx bro! And yea I agree what U say about the phones. I record all my youtube videos with Android phones. Image is just better and the pause button is great too as iPhones don’t have that. But my main daily driver everyday use is iPhone cause it’s just more stable and reliable. My second daily driver is my Samsung galaxy s10.

Too complicated. Just take out your SD chip and slide it into a USB adapter and insert into the TV's USB port. No cables needed.

Hi , I am very dissapointed and angry with gopro!! had my gopro 7 black and I could just connect to my TV with just my HDMI cable and watch clips immediatelly without buying anything else. Bought the Gopro 10 and lost that feature, unless of course I buy this fucking mediamod device that I dont need. I tried to use a direct cable but now GOPRO wont let the direct cable transmit to tv unless you purchase the fucking mediamod device. I am so dissapointed I wont buy again from gopro
