Liking the way you do business. Looking into starting my own street vending business and this is an inspirational idea for me. I don’t have any problem giving product away. Just from a business perspective it makes sense. Giving away product is simply an advertising expense, as well as a good will generator. The principle of giving in order to receive is at play.

You doing right. My dad had restaurant and a food service truck back in the day and he did same thing. In the restaurant he also had Sunday buffet and all the local church pastors were welcome to come eat free after church. Police, fire, emt all free coffee and eat anything they wanted free every day. He did as a service to those who service the community and also because yes it does bring more customers and it also can keep the criminal types away more. He didn’t get no special privileges but he knew who to call if issues come up and that sometimes is half the stress.. knowing who to call.

Consistency is key. No matter what. You can do a different spot every day, or the same spot every day. It doesn't really matter. Just make sure you are out there in the same spot on the same day every week. That's how you get regulars and build clientele

Running a hot dog cart seems like a difficult proposal here in South Florida. You need an air conditioned space to store/work on your cart. But good luck finding that space!

Here in S Florida the temps are insane in the summer (heat index goes up to 110) so working/cleaning/maintenance on the cart is impossible in a garage. It's impossible to find A/C storage space here that has drive-up access.

What is with all these people who think $4 $5 bucks is to much for a hotdog this isn't the 70s anymore the $2 $3 hotdog is gone most people probably haven't bought a hotdog from a cart in twenty five years, it cost money to run a cart , Question you say your cart is in the shop what place do you take your cart to have work done to it , Im looking for a place that will do work on my cart but I don't know where to take it ,would you know im in Virginia

I'll know more by the end of summer, as I'm getting into a different industry and I'll be making 70k+ to upwards of 100k . But likely be selling my Big dog Cart. My City is fighting the dude who owns the building i want to be in front of. And until his building is finished i don't have a spot as all of downtown is mostly historical and nearly impossible to get a spot. My buddy who ran the ballpark died a few months back and the ballpark has completely gone to s**t ! We finished the championship games in April and when my buddy ran it we didn't do that until last day of June! The lady who's running it now has run all the families off who enjoyed a well ran park last year. My typical season started in March and ran until championship Jun 29. Then whatever I did downtown was just icing. Buy now I've lost both. Bass pro shop was good but it faded as fast as it started. I guess some things are not meant to be. Glad your doing well. I tried calling you at your bar numerous times and left messages with those ladies to see if you could help, but no avail

Hey Dan, you've always answered my questions, and I trust you. I'm thinking about getting a cart from Ben, I've seen some reviews saying, pans rust before even using them, carts are built crooked and half ass, it's all made in China, etc.. can you please tell me your thoughts on his products ? I know you can't please everyone but I'm seeing multiple bad reviews, weigh in please, I can't afford to make a mistake on a purchase of that amount . 5-7 grand may not be much to some people, but it is to me. Never really had any major issues out of my Big Dog or Cash Cow. In fact, My Big Dog, I bought used from someone else and it's still my most reliable cart, 5ish years later

With that being said, would you recommend me starting with the cow until I build up to the dog ? I've got a bar that has outdoor concerts with no kitchen for Friday and Saturdays and have my commissary already set up. Can you put a grill or griddle on the cow, how would you do it ? Check out this video where I compare the 2 carts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYarmp9_e92Jpqc There are very minor differences between them. Most notably, the Big Dog has more workspace that you don't get with the cash cow, and the Hitch on the big dog is on the vendor side of the cart, so you need to take the Hitch off every time you use it. The cash cow Hitch is on the BACK of the cart, so it can be left on. Both carts are capable of doing the same capacity and have all of the same options, so you can get a grill on either cart.
