I had this surgery 11 years ago and it was done for health reasons not vanity it helped lower my blood pressure and it got me off of the diabetes meds 👍🙏

Hey Ty.. Im glad you gettin the bypass surgery soon. I had it done way back in feb. 2004, and lost 180# and ive kept off like 86% of it all these 17 long years. I still have off a total of 150#, so I know i made the right decision. Id do it all again if I had to...!!! You are surely doing the right thing.!! You will be talkin to a pysch person, and a dietican too along with a bunch of doctors, anesthesia staff. etc.. Its a structured program lifestyle change for sure... There will be a new post op diet to adhere too,but its easy. My main tip is to drink water ALL DAY, EVERY DAY..Modify your eating habits, cut down portions, you will be eating 5 small meals after your surgery too. Join a YMCA and swim, or take walks too afted you recover. Ill check back with you as you go thru the process. End result , you will be SO glad you finally went thru this. If not, you will have an early demise... God bless you man. Stay strong and be focused....!!!!!! Hugs n luv from Arlene in Philly.....🙏⭐❤👍. P.S. Ty, I give you total props for you keepin it real.. Your pics, and your heartfelt story took alot for you to man up too... It takes you to get to rock bottom to finally see the light. Its an addiction, just like dope, booze, and gambling.. That was my main reason for having the surgery as well. I was diagnosed with diabetes and was on metformin. I had my surgery on August 21,2001. By the end of September 2001 til this day( thank God) i haven't had to take any medication for diabetes. So to that I say congratulations and welcome to the club and please make aure that you take your vitamins.

I had it. You lose weight pretty fast. After a while (like a year or two) your stomach begins to stretch again. It’s important to stick to your diet or else the weight piles up almost as quick as u lost it. Good luck bro I believe in you

It's so important for people to know this. I know at least 30 people that had gastric surgery for weight loss, going back to the mid eighties. Only 3 of them were able to keep the weight off. It's so hard because the brain doesn't automatically stop that craving for a cheeseburger, fries, and a shake.

Yeeeeeeesssss Ty! Do it! ❤🥰 My husband had gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago. He went in weighing 418 and today he's holding it at the 260 mark (he's 6"4). I completely understand your desire to be healthier and wanting to live longer and that's why I encouraged/pushed my husband to do it. In the 12 years of us being together we NEVER went to an amusement park, rode on a plane, walked the beach, went horseback riding, caged shark diving, or did any thing that would be a reminder that he "couldn't fit" or that he "exceeded weight limits". It sounds like u already have an excellent support team and that's also very important for your journey. We live in Virginia and he had his surgery done in the DMV area with Dr. Fitzer in Reston. He had skin removal surgery last March on his stomach area....much success to you Ty....U got this!! ❤👍🏾

understand this so much. I was 39 years old and knew I was on borrowed time, health-wise. Like you, I had no health issues due to my weight (I was an opera singer so had a pretty similar lifestyle to you). At my heaviest I was 274 pounds. I’m 5’ 5”. I had tried everything to lose the weight. I just couldn’t do it. So I decided to take control of the situation and look into surgery. I had gastric sleeve surgery. The best decision I ever made. It was not an easy option (which is what some folk seem to think). It is an ongoing journey as the one issue that I still struggle with is my self-image and also realising that I’m not in the body I once was. I’m not ‘thin’ as such but I’m now 160 pounds now. I’m happy and healthy and I feel worth looking after. I’m now 50 years old. I don’t know how heavy I’d be now if I hadn’t had the surgery. I don’t even know if I’d be alive. I can’t believe how quick you got your surgery date. I had to do 6 months of nutrition classes but it took longer than 6 months because of COVID. I started in December 2019, and didn’t get my date until September 2020. My surgery was 6 DAYS after they gave me the date. So I couldn’t even do a full 7 day pre-op diet. I literally had to start THAT DAY.
