Three Dog Night is an American-Irish rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One", "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", Eli's Coming", Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.

Don't know where the Irish came from. In all I've read and heard I've never read or heard that before. I was a teen in the late 60s and 70s. Three Dog Night was my favorite group. I'd be interested to learn what caused them to be considered American Irish if you could elaborate please.

Absolutely more Three Dog Night! Keep watching their live versions because they clearly love what they were doing and had so much fun on stage. Check out their live performance of "Eli's Coming." Also, "Easy To Be Hard" has an amazing vocal by Chuck Negron (the one with the epic moustache), which was recorded in one take. This band is absolutely fantastic.

'Shambala', 'Just An Old fashioned Love Song' & 'Joy to the World' sets the stage for Three Dog Night. Back in the 90's, I was working for a very large high tech company. For a 'Thank-you' for a 'job well done' on a product our group pulled off. They put on a group party (about 300-400 employees if I recall) with dinner, drinks and dancing... to Three Dog Night... Live! What an amazing evening and those amazing songs from my teens to dance to was perfect! Enjoy your trip down my memory lane, Adogg! :)

This is a legendary band who had a lot of hits. Check out, Joy to the World, Never Been to Spain and Black and White. There are a lot more songs by them. They had so many hits. Me and my brother listened to their music when we were kids in the 70s. Great band.

The band got its name from an Australian saying on how cold it was at night, a two dog night or a three dog night to cuddle with to keep you warm!!! Great group!

In 1967, Three Dog Night was founded by Hutton, Cory Wells, Chuck Negron, Joe Schermie, Floyd Sneed, Jimmy Greenspoon, and Michael Allsup. Their catalog of over 50 songs is amazing. In 1972 they came out with Black And White. Family of Man also speaks of how we should treat each other.

Three Dog Night was my first concert!! They were too stoned to put on a decent show. I have all their albums & I was in love with Chuck, the dark haired singer. They have many, MANY great songs you should listen to but I suggest you listen to the studio versions.

Three Dog Night are an exceptional band, their harmonies are incomparable. When doing their live performances, they seem to not take themselves too seriously but yet put on a hell of a show (depending on what they're playing). This particular song was more or less an anti-drug song, played out in a seemingly comical way. They've got plenty more hits to check out like, "Joy To The World", "Shambala", "One", "Liar", "Eli's Coming", "Never Been To Spain", "Celebrate", "Easy To Be Hard", "Out In The Country" and "An Old Fashioned Love Song".
