You'd enjoy the longer live version of this song as well! It's from the show Soundstage in 1975. The opening by Corey Wells alone will knock your socks off. I was a big fan, and In 1970, my younger sister and I "choreographed" a dance routine to their hit song Joy to the World. My sis was 11 and I was 14. Our parents had been out to dinner with friends and when they all returned to our home we performed our dance masterpiece. We squatted into Jeremiah the bullfrog position and wiggled our fingers to represent the fishes in the deep blue sea. 😊 Lots of great songs to enjoy are already listed in the comments. Thanks for sharing your reactions and love of music! ❤

This is a cover of a Laura Nyro song. Laura Nyro was amazing. She wrote many songs that were hits for other artists. She got very rich with David Geffen when they sold off their songwriting company in the late sixties and she kind of slowed her career down. Her songwriting was otherworldly and she has a huge fan base of other artists like Elton John, Todd Rundgren, Joni Mitchell, Paul Stanley (Kiss) and Alice Cooper. Her album “Eli and the thirteenth confession,” which has her version of Eli’s Coming on it, just blew everyone’s mind.

Ahhh, my first concert in my early teens! This group started with only the 3 lead singers. They went in search for the musicians then. They did mostly covers of songs that failed to chart and made them hits, or songs from unknown writers and made them famous! Chuck Negron, singer with mustache, Cory Wells, the middle one, smiling, RIP and Danny Hutton. I did get all their autographs. I would check out "Try A Little Tenderness" as Cory does the lead vocals on the very soulful songs and that's a soulful one, originally done by Otis Redding. Joy To The World is another must do, along with Mama Told Me Not To Come. The last 2 songs are high energy too.

Much later Chuck Negron was kicked out of the band due to his addictions. Cory passed away and Danny Hutton is still active. 3DN actually had very little turnover in their band. 3 Dog Night also has a FB page if you want to see current news. Three Dog Night was not a cover band, in the 70s. A cover band is what you find at the local bar on a Saturday night, singing popular hits from many different artist, just like you heard them on the radio. They get paid by the bar, for the night's work. Three Dog Night had their music produced, recorded and sold to the public. Whether they wrote the lyrics or not, they created the musical arrangements themselves. They were legit recording artists. One of the biggest acts of the 70s.

I got my hands on two open-seating tickets to see them live in 1972. The girl I asked to go with me turn me down at the last minute and I ended up going with my brother-in-law (who was a huge fan). We arrived at the local high school auditorium soon after they started their first of two shows. The ticket keeper at the door let us in anyway (and neglected to take our tickets). We sat right off the left side of the stage, front row, also in front of the large stack of speakers. We couldn't see the band on stage well, but the sound was amazing. That show ended and we slowly walked over the two center, front row seats and just sat there. A few minutes later a guard came over and told us the show was over and we had to leave. We promptly showed him our tickets and he let us stay. We both had the time of our lives - the best concert experience ever! Three Dog Night was legendary, with three extremely talented lead singers and a band to match. Memories...

When I went to college in the fall of 1969, I had a 8 track player in my dorm room and would play Three Dog Night music while I studied.
