I remember the first video I'd ever seen of Blair in early 2020, when she said "your weight is just a number, just like your address or your social security, as long as your happy, and healthy, it doesn't matter." I immediatley subscribed, and although I haven't been invested and missed a lot during the "chaos" Blair's definitely the youtuber who knows their worth, living free, unrestrained and unapologetic that I strive to live like, or live vicariously through when I can't for myself just yet.

the social chameleon thing is not weird, a mental illness or manipulative at all! you could be a highly sensitive person or empath - we mirror others naturally as a way to make others more comfortable because we care a lot about others feelings. it also enables us to move through spaces with less emotional trauama to our squishy insides. it's actually a superpower and a strength if you know how to use it 💪🏼

I always thought I was helplessly bipolar until I learned I had adhd. Women with adhd are so often misdiagnosed or just written off as a mess. Adhd isn’t just the inability to pay attention, it affects a lot of other skills and it affects women differently than men! I learned how to manage it and now I’m really successful and have much better control of my emotions. Don’t believe lies about yourself, but continue on improving!

@Ash-gj2lf2 жыл бұрын
Just to reply to everyone… I have not tried medication. I hear it’s great for some people but doesn’t work out for others. You should always consult with your doctor, consider side effects carefully, and advocate for yourself. Either way, you should focus on building skills, habits, and not getting down on yourself. For resources, there’s a subreddit for adhd people and one for adhd women specifically. It helps connecting with people who have the same struggles. There’s also a website called Additude which I like and a KZbin channel called How to ADHD which has helped me a TON. You can also watch Ted talks to learn more. I recommend doing research and therapy if you feel like you’re having trouble. A therapist could also direct you to a doctor if needed for diagnosis/medication. Adhd is caused by a lack of development in certain areas of the brain and is typically considered to be genetic. It can manifest in ways like poor impulse control, time blindness, procrastinating, obsessing over specific things that thrill you, and of course we have thrill seeking . There a lot more but symptoms are different for everyone. The theme is poor control of attention, difficulty executing the actions you intend on, and omg being so bored all the time you just want to do something crazy. It’s like I’m always trying to the best I can in every way and yet I can never completely meet the mark… no matter how smart I know I am or how hard I try. But in other ways, adhd’ers tend to be really creative, funny, spicy, intelligent, and excellent in times of crisis when our brains do their best work. It’s both a blessing and a curse honestly.

I have BPD (borderline personality disorder) and I mirror everyone lmao but just because someone also does that, does not mean they also have BPD. I find it really inappropriate that people are trying to diagnose you through videos they watch, without knowing you in real life, and without being a professional. Even if they are a professional, they are not your actual doctor. Anyway, love these more personal videos 🤍

Most people don't have the ability to adapt to different social situations and talk to every kind of person, it takes skill! It doesn't mean you're fake or have mental illness at all, you're just perceptive and want to match the energy of the person you're socializing with. In high school, you could say I acted like a different person when I was talking to my stoner friends versus talking to my Christian friends. But that wasn't me being fake, I just acted a lot more respectfully around them (like how I did around teachers). It was me, but refined 😛 Also, I found that when I moved to Canada for high school, a *lot* of guys here (at least 6) misinterpreted me being a nice person as flirting or being attracted to them. I wasn't, I was just being friendly and was probably acting awkward because I was new. I feel like that's more along the lines of what you're experiencing -- you seem very personable and genuinely nice, which makes people think you're into them when that's just who you are. You may be mirroring the "perfect girlfriend" sometimes but at the end of the day, I think guys want to be with you because you're a real one. ☺💕 P.S. You should mostly cook a potato in the microwave, toss in in olive oil and put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 400F. You won't regret it!

Have you ever researched Borderline Personality Disorder? I was diagnosed 3 years ago and EVERYTHING I experienced in my life finally started to make sense. Why I feel things the way I do, why I react the way I do, why my life and personality never made sense until my diagnosis. I relate a lot to you and the way your emotions seem to react and interact with the world. I'm of course not a therapist or anything like that, just a thought. Good on you for taking the initiative and investing in yourself and your future through therapy.

I am also a social chameleon! I’ve always been called a “people pleaser”, and sometimes it comes across from certain people as “not a good thing”. Also, my room, and a lot of times parts of my home, look like a storage unit. And I never thought about it like you have. I show up for friends, my patients, my family, my livestock, my 2 kids and all of the things that entails. And I have MS. I’m always stressing out about how cluttered things get. But how you said that those other things are more important and to let that feeling go, is what I need to really start doing. Because like you said, on your death bed you will not give a shit about the clutter you’ve had throughout your life at home or work. It’s all of those other things. Thank you for helping me start to think differently about that because it bothers my OCD so much! Screw the clutter!

What we learn as love in childhood, is the one unfortuante thing that knocks our socks off in adulthood. You will be a great therapist one day yourself, if you so choose to.
