Police officer breached the peace. He didn’t attempt to de-escalate, he aggravated the situation threatening ‘you are being monitored’ and ‘locked up if you shout’. They potentially interfered with a pilot believing the drone was in flight, then they attempted a hijacking. They had no idea what was on the other end of those controls, it could have been 30Kg of aircraft and they snatched away the controls without having a clue how to safely land the aircraft they thought was in the air. A least it requires an apology and compensation, plus serious retraining of the force on drones, but I think that officer needs to lose his job along with the useless female sergeant.

I'm not surprised the police want this video banned. It shows the police force involved in a very bad light indeed. I'm a retired policeman and this lot are bang out of order. The only punishment the aggressive PC deserves is Dismissal With Immediate Effect. The PC who assists him should, at the very least, be given a Final Written Warning. That Sergeant should be reduced in rank to that of Constable as she is clearly not fit to supervise anyone, let alone herself. The Inspector seems incapable of properly supervising his officers. This is not good, but he should not be allowed to go unpunished. Reduction in rank? Not justified, but he should receive a verbal warning from a senior officer that his future career could be in jeopardy if he fails to smarten his act up and that verbal warning should be recorded on his service record for a minimum of three years. It would affect his promotion prospects whilst it remained on file. Did anyone notice that none of the coppers asked the guy from the Ambulance Service if he actually saw the drone flying? Just because someone has a drone control app open on their smartphone does not, in itself, mean they are controlling a drone. Memo to North West Ambulance Service (NWAS): Make sure your personnel check to see there is a drone actually flying before opening their mouths to the police. The guy from NWAS caused a lot of unnecessary aggravation and has exposed the police force involved to civil litigation through his moment of stupidity.

PC 8512 insisted that you are flying a drone, and would not accept your answer that you were not, however, the sergeant walks away with the controller, before it was proven not to be flying, and at no stage was he asked to land the drone. Every police action in this video was unlawful, and was supported by an inspector and a sergeant, the only sensible one was the baby in the pram, who was not offended and did not make a complaint.

This is why no-one respects the Police force anymore. Officers such as this guy believe that they can act with impunity and break the law themselves. If he had the humility to admit that he was wrong all this could have been avoided but he chose to act as the offended party and gave the old "section 5" threat to get himself out of trouble.
