Great to see you guys stop and help out a fellow traveler in need, that's the Aussie spirit. My parents went on a trip to the rock and had a bit of a mischief of the way and fellow travelers heading in the opposite direction turned around and asked if they were ok. Look out for each other so everyone can have a great time ☺

Longest trucks over here (Switzerland) are 18.75m, we saw a sign in WA allowing trucks up to 53.5 metres which was insane for us. Our roads aren't made for this. We loved seeing road trains 😊

Some people just wouldn’t feel safe stopping for a stranger in the middle of no where. I’d also say it’s a self fulfilling prophecy carry on 1 spare, no sat nav in a clunker like that.
@jimmybe64
@jimmybe64 5 ай бұрын
@@matgill6963 yes that is what I was thinking. Bad people break their vehicles. You stop to help and they do what they want to take your vehicle. It happens all the time so people are wary of strangers in remote places now
@SarahandKeelanTravels
@SarahandKeelanTravels 5 ай бұрын
What about you mat? Would you want someone to stop and help you? if you feel safe being out remote like that you should feel safe enough to stop and help someone.. this is the issue..

You are kind of missing the point cock. Just because you feel something doesnt mean everyone else does. Showing your naivety and age I reckon. Obviously in an ideal world people wouldn't have these concerns because people wouldn't be criminals, rapists and murderers. Also in an ideal world someone travelling these roads would have more than 1 spare tire and a sat-phone. for the record I would stop. But can also understand why others might not. @@SarahandKeelanTravels

Hi guys I absolutely agree help anyone that’s stuck. But. If you want to travel remotely GET a sat phone or a satellite communicator of some sort. People like that die because they’re remote and no one comes past. BE SELF SUFFICIENT. Love you guys and love your show. Ps not every shortcut is quicker 😂

As always - awesome video. Just came back from the Centre. Didn't see a single soul on the Birdsville Track over 2 days... other than the nice couple running a hotel midway ("what are you doing here - are you nuts"). Only a handful of people on the Oodnadatta Track and the Pink Roadhouse was shut for accom (but Simon was kind enough to open it up). To not stop is horrible... but you can't expect to see many folks in 50 degree heat at this time of year so pack a lunch and lots of water/beer. The upside to the heat is the flies have mostly given up or died and the solitude at this time of year makes the trip even more special. Corrugations seem to have a sweet spot where at the right speed you float over them. Yulara price gouging is what happens when the government runs EVERYTHING and there's no competition.

Hey Guys, just been watching this episode and had a giggle when you (Keelan) said that you were pumped to see 'the rock' and Sarah was all emotional, because myself and my wife were in that EXACT same situation. I was driving up to it pumped and all of a sudden I looked and saw her tearing up next to me. So I had to laugh at that. FYI, we were also the couple that said G'day to you half way around the rock when (and I hate to say this) you guys just come out of the toilets and were getting back on your bikes lol. But hey we had to go too so whatev's 😂

The reason a lot people don't stop or interact in any way is because a minority of people are hiding and ready to pounce on you as soon as you exit the vehicle (it almost happened to me 3-4 times) Leaving you stranded with no transportation, no food and no water. That will fuck anyones day.

God the flies in that neck of the woods are horrendous, 5 weeks and near on 12000km on a few occasions and nothing came close to that part of the territory. There are some places that just bring the emotions Sarah, While this is not one of them for me, i totally understand what you are saying, It is mighty Impressive, and we barely even saw it passing by a few months ago.

Hi guys, great adventure thru Ernest Giles track, (not done it ourselves), I certainly wouldn't have passed by old mate, but don't carry satellite ph either, so we'd been no help. Our only SOS is a PLB but it certainly wasn't a PLB activation moment either. We were out there this year when cyclone IISA passed over, so heaps of water at Kings Canyon & Uluru, infact the cycle track was closed as considered too wet. Fortunately our three day pass allowed time to pass, track dried out, able to cycle around on our last day there. Whilst it's a worthwhile way to see the Rock, nothing like the experience of climbing it as a family in August 1999. Now I have just one concern, how come you've videoed and publicly displayed a no go photo footage area of Uluru. Would have thought you'd be more respectful of indigenous wishes after becoming honorary accepted into Arnumland Society. Unsure, but you could find yourselves in a bit of strife. Regards as always, Wealie.
