I love how you showed and exsplained tourqing. Nost people dont realize you have to retourqe over and over untill you have the same tourqe on all bolts. Also you sound like Vin Diesel, thats super cool.

Wish id have watched this before doing my overhaul. I didn't go back over the bolts after as you did. finished the rebuild and am still finding oil and water mixing. buying new gaskets, bolts, and starting over. also curious about the lifters, should they have any spring or play to them?
@im234life5 жыл бұрын
No play at all. The rockers must maintain contact during operation. If not you'll have a rough running engine, even after replacing coil paks, spark plugs and injectors. Most time if you have play between the rocker and valve springs then you may have a "drop valve" . which means the valve is not closing due to valve seat drop. Sometimes bent valves... Sometimes. But yeah man sorry to hear your unluckyness on your head gasket. You got got it on your next gead gasket job!

I sent this to my mechanic..he just put new heads on and went by the book..but we discovered an oil leak when it's under pressure and we think it's coming from the rear of the new head
@im234life5 жыл бұрын
Could be a number of things. But if you went by the book then my first thing to check is the torque ratchet? Also could be tough to get a true reading on rear head bolts due to the reach/angle for the torque wrench. Not saying those are the issues at all. Could be worn threads on block bad prep warped head or even block . But you got a new heads so probably not warped. Possibly a bad head gasket and though it sucks it might be the best scenario. Just remove and replace. Never had this problem.... if it's a very small leak, I'd might try to tighten up the head bolts 1st. Be careful with that as you may strip threads or crack the head. If it's a major leak , I'd remove the head and start over. Good luck , hope this helps.

Did you say SAND THE HEAD SURFACE bad bad bad idea
@im234life2 жыл бұрын
Yeah when in the back yard we tend to do things as best as we can but I have any kind of machinery. So I can't surface anything like a pro would do. Though my truck is still burning tires . So it's holding up. Thanks for commenting 🙂

@@im234life hi Issac, I lean heavily on I wire cup brush in a battery drill when cleaning the top side, and a old worn out vacuum to dispose of all the unwanted debris, 😀 I had a mechanic at a dealership ruin a good Toyota supra engine by cleaning up the top end on a head gasket repair, , with sand paper. . Didn't mean to sound critical 😕
