I gave it my all ... 25 years of marriage, struggled to pay 4 years of college for my daughter, had a series of 3 heart surgeries and lost my career due to illness ... just to find out this week that my wife has decided to move out with my 21 year old daughter and start a new life without me ... I sit alone, empty, lost ... I find this song on youtube and well ... I never knew a human could suffer as much loss as I have in one lifetime and still draw breath ... thanks for the song, I needed the cry

This song brings me to tears because the lyrics perfectly reflect my parents' situation. I have a terrible dad who never physically harmed my mom, but he constantly broke her heart. The saddest part is that my mom still stands by his side to this day. My dad cheated on my mom repeatedly with different women, and my mom discovered that he married another woman, who was her brother's ex-wife, while she was still her sister-in-law. This ruined my mom's relationship with her brother and her nieces and nephews. Despite all this, my mom forgave him and stayed with him for our sake, her children. To everyone reading this, I hope you strive to be the best partner your significant other has ever had. Be kind, caring, and loving to each other. Edited: Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. We're all okay now. My dad passed away in May 2021, and we discovered that he had an illegitimate daughter with another married woman, unbeknownst to that woman's husband. That's their burden now. We're relieved that it's finally over, and we no longer have to endure this pain. My mom can finally move forward with her life and perhaps find new love. I hope you all find the best partners in love. Update: We're getting better every day, thanks to your thoughts and prayers. Now, my mom is free to do whatever she likes without the fear of my father looming over her. She seems to have developed some PTSD regarding marriage, but it's understandable. Hopefully, she can find true love and grow old together with someone special.

this is truly the sort of music i live for. that keeps my heart pumping. imagine dragons are the most creative people i’ve ever known, just by the way they’re able to so easily make you feel such a wide range of emotions in only eleven minutes. the agony, the joy, the nostalgia, the passion, the anger, the loneliness, the pain. nothing but applause for this entire video and love for these four amazing people and all of the others that stand by them.

This is my first time watching the video- and it broke me. I've been a big fan of theirs for years and recently went to see them live. This song was played acoustically. The amount of power in his voice while singing this song made me remember how much I loved it. In the concert he was directing the song to all of us, gesturing to the crowd during the bridge "thank you, for taking a chance on me". It was an incredible experience. To think this song came out right before Dan's marriage was about to collapse. And just looking back to how Aja and Dan were able to come back together and rebuild their love and relationship- this song becomes even more impactful. It is like a testament to how far they've come, through good and bad. This is such an incredible song. It conveys love through actions, and doesn't have to say "I love you" once. Because at the end of the day, being next to the person you love despite all your and their flaws speaks louder.

My interpretation of the video: Reynold's wife has left him. He goes to sell his ring, but ends up killing the pawn shop worker. While in prison, he fantasizes about a life without mistakes. The theme of oranges comes up a couple times, and oranges can be a symbol of marriage, love, and maturity. You see these sequences in Reynold's fantasies, where he and his wife are together and they are happy and he is free. He's been pardoned, he had good behavior, and his wife is always there for him. He's wearing his wedding ring in these parts, as well, and you see themes of traveling back home, a pardon ing letter, a boy with leg braces and crutches walking through the citrus fields, and warm days. These are intercepted by misty tunnels, letters of the death penalty, his wife crying, and Reynolds smashing things up in his holding cell. The scene is terminated with Reynold stretched out in the chair, ready for lethal injection, his wife looking in and crying surrounded by the priest and his family. In between his fantasies Reynold has to face reality; his wife doesn't love him, he's committed a murder of an innocent man, and he's about to die. I believe the misty tunnel that he walks through is him accepting his death - he doesn't struggle in the chair as he did in the cell. He's calm, looking at his crying wife, understanding he can't undo his mistakes and that he has failed his wife for the last time. The phrases on the wall read, "We're all guilty yet we're all loved", "Hold me", "Touch me let me know I'm alive". During the last anger sequences, Reynold is wiping the words off of the wall. Aja doesn't love him anymore - he's guilty, but he's not loved. Aja doesn't touch him in the last scene - they're separated by glass and his failures. He's alone, untouched, and soon will not be alive. His fantasies, though, are with him to the end. There he can be happy and free and in love with his wife. He picks up the child that's fallen, he tastes the orange, he kisses his wife. And then he dies. Credit to P4li_ndr0m3 on Reddit for coming up with this, I thought it was a very good interpretation of the video so I just wanted to share it with you guys.

On top of the world, I had some radioactive night visions, it was time to confront my demons. I first tried to get back to my roots, I bet my life on it but the gold was just smoke and mirrors and I ended up lost in the unknown. So I figured I had to evolve, to do whatever it took. When you’re happy, You enjoy music. When you’re sad, you understand the lyrics. This is the kind of song in which we understand the lyrics.
This song hits me hard. All throughout elementary and middle school, I had to survive alone. I had no one. People didn’t like me. In 6th grade in middle school, I tried to end myself. I never came up with a plan. I just wanted to do it. But after a lot of talking with my counselor and my parents, I made the choice of being alive. Now that I’m in high school, I find life amazing. But most importantly, people are amazing.

Congratulations on choosing life. Please do not ever choose otherwise for all the lows, we will experience better days or at least moments ahead. May we never be the cause of someone else’s sorrow for our loss, lest it be the hour appointed by God for our natural homecoming. Keep walking, keep going, and may your good memories outweigh your bad. May you continue to be good news for others and a light 💡 unto for the path of others who would like you…choose life! 🎉❤

You and they did the right thing, you talked to eachother, you listened to each other & somewhere in the middle of that, I'm sure some relief was found, some hope to keep on going, some faith that those years were only a temporary part of your life. An important thing to always remember is; that there will always be 'helpers' nearby in our journey through life, there will be those who are able to teach us something we need to know right then & there will be those who've been through what we're going through & we can learn what we should do, or read, or listen to, or say & what NOT to do, say or read through their stories of their experiences, but in order to learn or for others to know what they could tell us that can help us that requires us to be communicatng to them how we really are feeling. The 2nd thing to remember is; A bad day, bad week, or a bad year even, does not mean your whole life is bad, or that it will all be bad or feel bad. Everyone has really crappy days, weeks, years even, for all kinds of reasons but the sun will shine again, what goes up must come down and vice versa. So always hang on to see what tomorrow brings.

This song is everything to me. My husband has been through SO MUCH with me. I have Bipolar Disorder and have been through the extreme ups and downs, hospitalized, ran our credit cards up with the mania... the list goes on. He always makes sure I take my medication and never misses a beat. He never gave up on me once. He never judged me or blamed me for anything. He is the best man I know. The sweetest soul, the most understanding person, and the purest form of a human being. I told him that this song is perfect for how I feel about our relationship. I told him that through everything, he’s always been next to me. He said, “Always, babe.”

You know the man cheated on his woman in this song, it's not romantic, it's about cheating, it's just disgusting, not romantic and not like your love story which doesn't involve cheating. I don't know why anyone would want to relate their love life to this toxic song.

My interpretation of the song is this: Aja leaves him because of his myriad of problems including cheating. He makes a rash decision after reading her letter and goes to sell his ring, the clerk basically tells him that it isn't worth anywhere near what his love to her meant and he realizes this. Then decides that he wants to take his anger out on someone and decides to rob this guy who pissed him off. Obviously, that leads to him killing the clerk and getting caught. From here he spends his time on death row reminiscing on how different his life could have been with Aja and dreams up a perfect scenario where he is released, returns to her, and she still loves him. While on death row all he can think about is her and all chances he had to make things better and begins to slowly go crazy. Then before his execution he thinks back on all the people he has hurt and how he could have made it right. Then he sends the letter to Aja as a final sign that he can admit he screwed up and it is all his fault and asks to see her one last time while he is put to death. While being prepared for the lethal injection his life flashes before his eyes as he thinks back on his childhood and all the things that made him innocent to come to peace with what he did and ultimately accepts death. Brilliantly told story and I absolutely love this song, thank you for this gift Dan, Mark, Imagine Dragons, and everyone who helped put this together. It was fantastic!

Lyrics: Something about the way that you walked into my living room Casually and confident lookin' at the mess I am But still you, still you want me Stress lines and cigarettes, politics and deficits Late bills and overages, screamin' and hollerin' But still you, still you want me Oh, I always let you down You're shattered on the ground But still I find you there Next to me And oh, stupid things I do I'm far from good, it's true But still I find you Next to me There's something about the way that you always see the pretty view Overlook the blooded mess, always lookin' effortless And still you, still you want me I got no innocence, faith ain't no privilege I am a deck of cards, vice or a game of hearts And still you, still you want me Oh, I always let you down You're shattered on the ground But still I find you there Next to me And oh, stupid things I do I'm far from good, it's true But still I find you Next to me So thank you for taking a chance on me I know it isn't easy But I hope to be worth it So thank you for taking a chance on me I know it isn't easy But I hope to be worth it Oh, I always let you down (I always let you down) You're shattered on the ground (shattered on the ground) But still I find you there Next to me And oh, stupid things I do (stupid things I do) I'm far from good, it's true But still I find you Next to me (next to me)

*Mysterious Girl* Its like he cheated on his wife and she was hurt very bad so she left him and he started to lose it (mentally) doing a lot of bad things which led to his death sentence. However, she was still in love with him so she showed her support through his last days because she couldn't believe he was really going to die. That's what I got. In another video Reynolds explained that he was always bad with love so the *audio* thi was kinda about his bad relationships.
