Little Mac's F-Smash is quite frankly absurd. You get 1 of 3 choices. 1) A frame 14 move with armor that kills absurdly early horizontally that's -16 with a bit of pushback. 2) A frame 14 move with armor that kills vertically early that's -16 on shield. 3) A frame 15 move with armor that breaks shields, deals ludicrous damage (24% uncharged), and is only -13 on shield if it doesn't break the shield. This is a high damage move no matter what and it either has a built in DI mixup with armor that kills or a shield breaker with armor. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the downward version 2-frames. It's easily within the top 5 best F-Smashes in the game imo. It's just attached to Little Mac...

as a Mac main, the down angled one sometimes 2frames, but your timing has to be very good and it sometimes can't 2frame some recoveries, most of the time, it works (down tilt / smash still is better in that case)

I’d like to add Pac-Man in top 5, that’s basically a stronger, more unpunishable, lingering Mario f smash but just without the two frame. It’s basically a final smash disguised as a smash attack, I’m surprised Meta Knight got picked over it. MK may have a lagless f smash but it’s pretty hard to hit an opponent regardless unlike Pac-Man’s which you can throw out in neutral and get away with

Mario’s fsmash is safer on sheild, more base damage, better startup and that step back in the start up makes it really annoying sometimes. Pac-mans f smash can be out of sheild f smashed by greninja even so idk about a great move in neutral. Meta knights f smash is safe even on clouds sheild which is known for up b out of sheild.

I mean, yeah, MK's is slow on start-up, but it really doesn't matter since due to the low lag and safety you can often bait the opponent into doing something that's easy for MK to react & counter or it gives you free space if they're too scared to challenge it. From what I've seen so far, Pac-man's aren't going for their F-Smash unless it's a read or a bell confirm, meanwhile MK players are throwing theirs's out at most opportunities, so what does that tell you?

Mac’s not being in top 5 is actually criminal. It does everything all three directional smash attacks should do all in one move and you can’t basically can’t react to if you can shield it or not. So you can’t beat it, and then you have to take the 50/50 of either jumping and getting up angled or shielding and getting murdered at 10%. Move is seriously good

Sephiroth had a good run so far, being consistently at the top of the list. I definitely use this move too much for my own good. :p Beginning to use short hop fair and f-tilt in neutral more, trying to figure out how to use nair properly, as unlike any grounded attack that isn't a gigaflare (which just kills), it actually has combos. Still struggling against my Sheik main younger brother, who just shields all my attacks and only dies to failed parries. I do win, somehow, a fair amount, but I'm learning.

Seph lacks multi hits so his on shield game kinda sucks, side b, late hit fair and Nair (in order) are his best moves on shield imo. Late hit fair is good to mix in with normal fair to mess up parry timings, side b doesn't have much lag at all and is rlly good when charged and spaced and Nair is just safe frame data wise

I mean, he has a couple moves that might as well not be multi hits. Mainly gigaflare (8) and his counter (5?), but then he's also got up to 5 shadow flares and octaslash. On shield, neither of those will work and one of them will get you killed, but hey. Unsure why late hit fair beats a normal hit fair though, is it just quicker to recover from? Also, is side-b really successful on shield? I feel like after a block, you're not left with a lot of options to defend against being rushed down as the endlag, while not terrible, is still very much punishable and very few of Seph's moves are quick to protect him.

@@Marhathor yeah but those multi hits aren't moves you use in neutral, those moves are purely advantage tools or a counter. You can't use them on someone's shield, if you look at some of the best characters in the game they can pressure and shields with their safe or multihit move. I say side b is good when charged and spaced because you can't be punished from a distance. Late hit fair is used as a mix up when pressuring someone's shield to mess with their parry timings. Seph doesn't have any amazing close up tools you're correct about that but you have to make up with that with the few things he does have like footstool out of shield down air and using jab when possible to stuff out approaches, they ain't amazing moves but they are much better than doing nothing

To be fair, I think most people knowledgeable in the matchup agree it's favored for Sheik. If he's punishing out of shield, you can throw in a tomahawk (empty short hop fast fall grab) and that might make him reconsider sitting in shield. If you can start a juggle, you can land flare as mixup and make it hard to shield when he gets back to the ground, or even set up for a dsmash shield break if you've got a read on habits of his with shield.

Mewtwo and bowser do not use their f smashes nearly as much as most of the characters ranked near them or even below them. Bowser’s is really slow and has a lot of endlag…enough to make it only a hard read or hard/free punish tool. Mewtwo’s up smash and down smash are his go tos since his f smash is only situational

@@Frilleon At frame 22 it's not that slow compared to the really strong f smashes (Byleth is frame 23, Ganon is frame 29, and Ike is frame 31). I believe it kills the earliest out of all the f smashes off the side. Bowser has full body intangibility at the beginning and his feet are invincible throughout the rest of the move. It's a pretty good f smash.

In my opinion, this tier list is perfect except for one thing, and that is Corrin, you are way underrating Corrin`s F-Smash, it is one of the best F-Smashes because you can angle it, it can lock opponents in shield, if you lock them in shield them dropping their shield is a free hit since they cannot roll away (Because they would get hit by the chainsaw hitbox), and if they don't drop shield... its a free shield break for the tipper.

WAT? marth's smash attacks are universally worse than lucina's but his tilts are universally better. Samus's F smash isn't great in a vacuum despite being tied for the second fastest in the game at frame 11, but it is great on Samus's kit just because Bomb ledge trapping and 2 frame possibilities with F smash

ESAM thinking that Pika's F smash is the third best in the game is so weird to me. It has range, but the sour spot is so bad and honestly the sweet spot also feels underwhelming. I'd rather have Mario Chrom or Pac Man F smash than Pika's and I'd honestly put it just below Ridley

Sora's Fsmash belongs in the top of busted. That Fsmash has 16 frames of startup & is -16 with no charge, -9 with max chargehold, & -5 on shield drop + lots of shield pushback. Uncharged fsmash forces the opposing character to have high air acceleration + disjointed range to even attempt to threaten it or it's back to neutral. The move does a crap ton of shield damage & arcs upward, which makes it a scary anti-air to be hit by & his de facto safe shield busting tool. I'd move Lucas's Fsmash up to the very start of busted. 14 frames of startup with 45 faf. Is -21 with no charge, -18 with max charge, & -10 to -7 from no charge to max on shield drop. Has good shield pushback for its startup & only has 7 frames of startup with a charge hold. This means once lucas starts charging it, it's unreactable & nigh impossible to parry if you're in its range. It also has an uncharged knockback similar to wolf's, but st just 1 character space short. The reflector is a nice bonus & has a speed & damage multiplier of x1.5. SO lucas has a fsmash that's barely weaker than wolf's yet is a reflector and has 14 frames of startup when compared to wolf's 20 frames of startup? So stupid, with a stick no less.

Marth’s smash attacks are way more inconsistent and hard to use compared to the rest of his kit. I’m really beginning to think Esam doesn’t know anything about Marth and is just biased. He literally gets something wrong every time he talks about the character…

Have you seen weak uptilt into F-Smash for math? Kills so early and always tippers. Also Marths F-Smash is better on the ledge because you can always space it to get a 2-Frame / hit a neutral get up. So have to disagree, ESAM is right on this one

@@BedrockBlocker I play Marth. Yes I am aware of Up-Tilt into F-Smash. It’s very nice, however it only works for a very short early percent window, is character-dependent, rage-dependent, and weak back-hit of Up-Tilt is actually way harder to get than the tipper. Marth also has other combos into F-Smash. It’s very good when it tippers obviously but it’s literally one of his hardest tippers to land consistently due to weird hitboxes. Esam’s logic just doesn’t add up because inconsistency is normally a big no-no for him when comparing Marth to Lucina.
