With online being laggy, Europe never quite had the critical mass of top players to create other top players, to create even more top players, and so on... The Netherlands, France and Germany tend to be the best scenes, with Spain recently improving. The UK is an underachiever, given its huge population and success in fighting games and e-sports in general. This critical mass of top players is especially important in Smash, as there are so many matchups that need to be learned to that level and this requires an especially large pool of top players.

Riddles is a good honourable mention! Guy is insane on those FGCs. Really looking forward to seeing him grow and improve. One of those rare eSports players who actually knows how to build a brand around themselves as well so even if he's not winning tourneys he still has a solid fanbase and income!

I think Elegant should have been a honorable mention, because before 2022, imo he had the results of being top 10(Better results than Kola). Recently, he's had a set-back that kind of started at summit.

Hey Esam! A few things: - I noticed you didn’t include yourself as an honorable mention (very humble). Im wondering what your placements have been like lately? - would you say Maister hasn’t been doing as well lately either? I know he used to be in the conversation for top 5 or 6 - would you put glutto higher since the recording of this video/is there anything you would alter since the recording of this video? Loved the vid btw! Always fun to hear a top player’s thoughts on the current standings of the game.
@maxxam_kayo2 жыл бұрын
After he won Glitch ESAMs results haven't been stellar. 17th, 13th, 7th and 25th at the last majors he attended. Still a top 20 player for sure, but way too inconsistent to be considered near top 10 right now. And Maister didn't get any top 8s since October until last weekend where he got 7th at LTC. He's probably still Top 15, but not much higher
@nimcie83772 жыл бұрын
@@maxxam_kayo Esam is so funky with his results, he really can win to anyone and lose to anyone. Like in Genesis, he 3-0d Tweek and the set right after, he managed to lose 1-3 to a Ryu and that’s a good matchup in Pika’s favor

Prediction before the video: (in order) dabuz, zomba, tea, kola, tweek, glutonny, light, protobanham, spargo and mkleo. And maybe chag, riddles and zackray as honorable mentions. But I think that I'm going to switch light and protobanham.
Esam did this on stream like weeks ago, I assume he would consider changing glutos spot if he had done this recently

Not gonna argue with anyone on the list but one thing that I think is really exciting about this season of smash is how many other players are threatening this list. Honestly there are too many to mention which is super cool. I think this list is a pretty solid top ten but there are plenty of players that can threaten pretty much anyone but Leo and Sparg0.
