I feel like some people feel entitled to be able to use it for one reason or another. In my case, as a child I watched a lot of comedy movies and stand ups by black people, and of course they used the n word. As a fan of those comedies, and a (non black) person of colour, I felt I had a right to use the n word, and then so until I was around 15-17, and I got educated. The fact that I grew up outside the US, so I faced no real education or repercussions for my use of the word (my country is hella racist too lmao). So yeah a lot of things can play into it, what matters is how the individual reacts to being called out and how they grow from there. Just my onion.

There was a flaw with the whole "fans are hypocrites" bit. The fans were replying to Laura. That is very important. Here's why... Gabriel is the one who said nigga. Laura is the one who said racist remarks targeting poc. I'm not saying what Gabriel did wasn't bad, but it wasn't actually racist. What Gabriel did was out of ignorance of the word nigga and thinking that it was okay for everyone and anyone to use. Laura actually said racist things that were derogatory. The difference is that one is said out of hate and the other one is said in a casual manner. This matters because the fans all said it in a casual manner as well so that means that they are not hypocritical to then call Laura out. If the fans were to say what Gabriel did was bad seeing as how they did what Gabriel did...THEN they would be hypocrites. But that's not what happened... They were criticizing Laura's actual racism towards people of color. Laura did not say nigga, Gabriel did. The fans did what Gabriel did, the fans did not do what Laura did in any example listed. Both bad.. Not the same thing. And also not on the same level as unacceptable. (Imo) Being racist is something that only happens when you have Hate in Your Heart and actually see someone as a lesser than you. Saying nigga casually is a result of not knowing that it's not a word for everyone, as I said. None of the examples showed were of someone saying nigga in an offensive way to hurt someone so its not hypocrisy.
