Let me see if I can describe this correctly: I think a slick add-on to any base design including this one would be to build outward on either side of the entrance to the base to create sort of like a tunnel or a hallway leading up to the front door to the base. You can create a fatal funnel situation where they're caught in a death trap because there's only one way in and one way out. Hope I described what I see in my head clear enough.
