Lennon was a true rebel. He was never afraid to speak truth to power and take on the establishment of his time. He had a strong mind and a sharp tongue. Most people that make it in life follow the masses and play it safe. Lennon wasn´t like that, and he ultimately paid with his life. But we should treasure people like him, they´re a rare breed.

The whole entire world needs to hear this song. It needs to be blasted on repeat on the battlefields of Ukraine and in the Kremlin. And at the false Communist leadership in Beijing for the Uyghurs. Free The People NOW! But most importantly this song needs to be piped into every mansion of the American ruling class. If you don't free the people now, our entire species will go extinct in less than 50 years. The 1% don't understand, their bunkers are not going to save them. Climate Change is going to wipe the super rich off the planet too along with us peasants. And even IF the ruling class does somehow survive all the death and destruction; there are fates worse than death. Soylent Green! for example Those rich sons of bitches will envy the dead. Growing up in Cleveland in the 1970's, WMMS played this song during the Watergate hearings. They had to edit out the "jerking off each other" reference after some complaints.
That’s funny, literally the first line isn’t inline with the majority of english already (nationalism, patriotism, etc, are certainly rampant). Surely you can’t make something an anthem whereby its lyrics are fundamentally at odds with the people’s psyche.

The song is from Lennon´s album Mind Games 1973. It is a masterpiece! It´s a pitty it is not more known! What failed? It´s three songs i it. In every part the tension increases. Lennon is the only one who could create an increasing tension.
@ycoz58148 жыл бұрын
I consider myself educated in Beatles and post-Beatles music history and I have never heard this. I'm here because I heard it playing over the end credits of Children of Man. I recognized Lennon's voice and it was like a shot of salvation.
@Johan938888 жыл бұрын
Yes, that´s often typical for Lennon. Before Lennon the structures mostly was AABA, with a decreasing tension in the B. Other examples are I Should Have Known Better. And Hapiness is a Warm Gun, consisting of three melodies with an increaing tension. In All You Need Is Love you have at first a talking, then a halfsinging and finally a climax. Bring on Lucie ought to have been more known, but lennon wasn´t the same PR genius as McCartney.
@quality3337 жыл бұрын
You dont recognize the song because you were a product of the top 40 radio stations who played songs they were instructed to or which they deemed hits. They hit it on the nose with Mindgames but there were other tracks on the album that were very good like this one Seems that most only know Lennon for the song Imagine
