Theres an interesting mechanic in interstellar marines, where you can raise your helmet visor to hear the environment more accurately, with the cost of being open to headshots. something being diegetic is helpful in more ways than atmosphere, so work with that when you feel it would work with the rest of the game! i just found that interesting and on-topic, but other than that i would like to say; good luck!

Since I intend to make my game fully modable, I am working on a non-suit gameplay. For instance, since suit has depreciation system in it, player character takes much more fall damage without it. They also cannot use the crosshair, forcing their fire to be inaccurate. I don't intend to strip the character of their suit much, if at all, but if any modder ever does, I imagine the player will quickly start to miss it.

@@Vvix0 when you say no crosshair without suit, do you mean in game less accurate, or harder to be accurate from the player
@Vvix06 күн бұрын
@@711pizzaslice It's harder to be accurate since there's nothing on screen to guide your aim, but making the weapons intrinsically less accurate without the suit is also an idea. I might try it out later.

I would love a mod for half life & half life 2 that makes the HEV suit more useful, more noticable and also give you MORE info like how it does in the video.

in my project, i made it so the health/ammo doesn't show if its full lol

Fair enough, Skyrim does the same. If "health invisible" is the same as "health full" you might as well hide it for a cleaner view of the landscape.

while the hud in half life seems to be non diagetic, it might be from his glasses? what do you think?
@Vvix07 күн бұрын
I think it's a bit of a stretch. If anything, I'd imagine the HUD we (the players) get is a simplified version of suits general interface. The interface (in lore) might fully rely on the suit's voice to convey information, or might have some kind of screen. HL1 suit seems to have some sort of panel on the front under the lambda symbol. As per the glasses, neither Gina Cross nor Colette Green (From HL: Decay) wear glasses and the HUD is still displayed on the screen, although Gearbox games aren't confirmed to be part of the canon. There's probably a lot of suit functionality we don't see, like where a flashlight is supposedly located, or how does gordon connect to health and ammo chargers. I frankly don't think Valve was particularly concerned with scientific accuracy about Gordon's suit.
