Күн бұрын

immigrate | emigrate | migrate
These three verbs are easily confused, and with good reason. Not only do they all have to do with moving, but they sound similar!
1) immigrate to + country = the emphasis is on entering a country
Carolina's family immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1999 for better job opportunities.
2) emigrate from + country = emphasis on leaving a country
Due to tough economic times, many people are choosing to emigrate from their own countries in search of a better life.
3) migrate = emphasis on a long move (often used for animal migration)
Many birds migrate south for the winter.
