I'm the same boat like a lot of people, I press B to jump and B again to do the double jump but can't seem to get enough lift/forward motion to move to the next moving column. I fall every dang time. Thanks for providing the video.

I think I figured out those awful updraft pillars. Instead of double jumping, as that didn't work for me, try gliding in to them. So don't stand in them to begin with, stand in front of them. (double) jump and glide. That should lift you up. Hopefully.
