Beautiful.....I was born and bred in this historic town by the river Thames. The army is an integral part of the town’s history and life today. My grandfather was a Grenadier guard. My late father-in-law was an Irish guard who served overseas for six years during WWII. My husband was an Irish guard as well, choosing to serve in his father’s regiment. This comes second nature to most, if not all, Windsorians. We are certainly proud to have been born and raised in Windsor...

So good to hear all the ceremonial British " Pot-boilers " like Elgars Imperial March and the like. The very best of British Military music-making. Bravo the bands. So good to hear a " proper-sized " British Military Band ! Bravo the musos !

It's about time Thames Valley Police took some pride in their appearance for such occasions. So scruffy, they look like they are emptying the dustbins.
@Fbo19410 жыл бұрын
Yes across the country, some officers look fantastic, always clean shaven, headdress on, shirts tucked in etc. A very small minority don't though. I understand often you may be wearing general policing kit rather than police ceremonial/service dress, but you can still look smart regardless of what dress of uniform you are wearing!

Could be that Blue does not come out well on this video. Trust me that the plumes are the true St.Patrick's Blue.

@adelaide102- it's called 20% cutbacks. No:1 uniforms isn't all they've lost in terms of equipment. They know they'd look smarter in pressed trousers, shirt and ties rather than the practical, serviceable crap they have to wear. Nothing more depressing than having to make the best of a cheapskate uniform when standing next to an unnervingly smart Guardsman whose uniform costs a few thousand quid and yours doesn't - the useful stuff they buy for themselves.Thames Valley Constabulary has to find £millions for Terrorist Operations (being so close to London), so not a lot is left over to protect the locals. You'd really think the cost of such operations would be met by a huge central government fund wouldn't you ... but this England 2014.
@Fbo19410 жыл бұрын
True, but for goodness sake why did they have to take away (as far as I am aware) the Custodian helmet from Thames Valley officers? It is the image of a British 'policeman' and should never have been sacrificed. These cutbacks are a disgrace to the nation.
@Insperato6210 жыл бұрын
Fbo194 - difficult to run in, cannot wear in a car, bit of an arse to keep taking on and off, and scumbags like to collect them. Nuff said.
@Fbo19410 жыл бұрын
Insperato62 You can wear peaked caps in cars, granted difficult to run in, but so is anything but the stab vets and belts and boots are a bit worse I imagine, and scumbags collect anything with police on! Yes not for every policing duty, but definitely on a public, foot, state visit!
@Insperato6210 жыл бұрын
I wasn't referring to the peaked caps being worn in cars but the old fashioned type pointed kind.
