What a simple explanation of something I have struggled with. Yes, I am one of those players who had a little bit too much shaft lean at impact - in my case it also led to a slightly too steep angle of attack. With my coach we had been trying to release the wrist angles a bit earlier, with some success, to shallow the angle of attack a little but the lower case "y" as opposed to upper case "Y" makes it really easy to visualise

Rotation yes, understood. But I think you would also add that this must be combined with getting maybe 80% of the weight on to the lead (your left) foot. One does not want to focus so hard on rotating that one forgets and keeps too much weight on the trail leg.

I wonder if this is a feel as well similar to "feeling" no wrist hinge on the backswing actually leading to actually a good amount of wrist hinge naturally.

Great lesson. Too much shaft lean has been too fashionable for too long.
