I have been in the Army for 23 years. Even though I know exactly what happens when 9mm hits body armor I liked the video..truth is I liked the video before it even started because I knew it was going to be well done already, and more videos are a good thing. Your production value is superb.
@AzzKicker-bz1cb4 жыл бұрын
@Sgt Ripcord I’ve been in the military and a hunter of whitetail deer; that means a whole lot of nothing other than, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that 9mm FMJ won’t penetrate 99.999% of any kind of body armor even at point blank range! .44 magnum, .45 ACP, .50 anything fired from almost any platform in FMJ might make an unmistakable impression in body armor rated to withstand rifle rounds, until you add armor piercing to the equation, then the game changes considerably across the spectrum! The only armor piercing rounds that I would bet against penetrating level 3A armor, would be the 9mm. I’d bet against it at point blank range(barrel nut against the armor plate) against steel plate with any anti-spall coatings! Maybe I’m just a man talking out of a paper asshole, but then again, I could be right! P. S. Just to add this one caveat, I’m not trying to start an argument with you, I’m just expressing my thoughts on the probability of 9mm anything penetrating level 3A body armor, except in maybe the most extreme scenarios!!

The AD scene is pretty accurate. There’s a few SF guys that have talked about being in a situation like that. One of them was in Iraq and was on a night op. SF went in with NVG’s, one SSG entered a room with two men, shot both of them with his M4 but there was another one around the entryway that managed to rip off his NVG’s and break the sling on his M4 knocking it out of his hands. Turns out the other two survived multiple 5.56 rounds and it turned into him fighting three armed men with his bare hands in the dark until he got get his pistol out. Said there were a few ND’s that would light up the room. The mix of adrenal and pure chaos. Still managed to kill all 3 and walk off with some minor injuries.

It’s the same thing in John Wick in indoors scenes, and with any movie or TV show nowadays. They can’t fire real guns shooting blanks or the whole crew would lose their hearing after one take. They add a muzzle flash in post, and sometimes don’t even bother with the slide. John Wick 1 in his house is a great example. And then you have the market scene in John Wick 3 or the Continental scene, and on the contrary the shotgun and assault rifle scenes definitely look and sound like real weapons firing blanks.

Since this video is about nit picking, an Accidental Discharge (AD) is caused by a mechanical failure of the gun, causing it to fire without the trigger being pulled. I used to work in the same building as the DEA, and they were getting ready in the parking lot to go out on a bust. Dwayne Magee: That'd be great. It's one of my favourites too. But I can remember a mistake at the beginning of the series. Remember, the team flying to India with a liaison officer from Pakistan and operating from a room wherein an Indian officer would appear in a blink-and-you-miss scene? Well, that's completely unrealistic. Indian authorities will not allow any foreign agency to work on Indian land without their own involvement. More so, if there's a Pakistani agent. You have to get prior approval from the Central govt. and your team will always have to work under the direct observation of Indian agencies. Or else you'll be deported back right away from the airport. So, that was a big mistake from the makers of the series to show it the other way.

The MP5 is an MP5 SD ( designed to make supersonic 9mm go subsonic) so it would actually be going slower than a 9mm out of a glock.
@priyamganguly4 жыл бұрын
James kesslar: Does that mean suppressors decrease the muzzle velocity on any weapon?
@jpk9171jpk4 жыл бұрын
Priyam Ganguly no. The MP5 SD was specificity designed to do this. It has holes in the barrel to vent off gas to slow down standard issue 9mm ammo to subsonic speeds. The reason is to eliminate the sonic crack created by a projectile breaking the sound barrier. This optimized the sound reduction qualities of a suppressed weapon. There are also negatives to doing this. It making the projectiles less effective at energy transfer and expansion.

I just started watching your channel & totally love the way you look for realism as far as shooting scenes in action movies! I have been driving my wife & daughter nuts for years when watching fight/shooting scenes that don't show empty casings leaving the weapon or hitting the ground after being fired. I've also caught the Hollywood wonders using blank rounds w/crimped case mouths both in magazines & on the ground,missing primers,showing primer strikes on what are suppose to be live rounds in a revolvers cylinder,bullets bouncing off plastic garbage drums & sparking as they do,car doors & other materials a bullet would zing right thru but bounce off,crazy! I also get a huge laugh out of all the totally fake recoil impulse scenes from rifle & handguns clearly done by actors who have never really fired a weapon of any kind in their life! All the things that make a good movie just laughable! Thanks also for all your tips & views to help us all become better shooters,I really enjoy watching your vids! Great job!

The MP5 Suppressed is an MP5 SD The barrel is ported just forward of the breach multiple times so that the 9 mm round is made sub sonic before it reaches the silencer (that is the device name on its patent not suppressor) as 111a+ body armor has in some cases been shown to resist + of 40 rpunds. With regards to the scene at 9:55 he knows he has a clean shot at the body, but if we watch later on, we know that they are wearing plate carriers, and that the pistol rounds do nothing to the plates, and Chris' character probably knows that so he doesn't waste his ammo.

Nice breakdown. You should become an executive movie director so you could bring some realism to the gun shooting scenes of action movies. I'd love to see an actual realistic gun battle scene in a movie. Also, I can hardly believe they actually scripted that actor in the TV show “Shooter” to say something so completely and obviously false about the .223 round only being able to take out a squirrel. 😂🤣😂 If that were true, then why would the US military adopt the M16 chambered in .223 as the primary weapon used for combat by its troops? And why has it been so successful over the years in taking out many enemy combatants? Too funny. It's actually kind of sad though, the amount of misinformation that's pumped down the mainstream media pipe. All designed to keep people in the dark and destroy truth about firearms.
