'CyberChrist' was the most intense song on 'Urga Karma' IMO. Has all the elements. I'll never forget LSD experiences listening to both that disc, 'Tol Cormpt' and the Utterly insane 7"'s 'Sadogoat' and 'Goat Perversion'. I mean, words cannot describe how shocking, fucking soul shaking scary yet totally satisfyingly those recordings were. The vocals were Soo intense and original. Great overdubs. True underground stuff of blackest elements.

After being almost neglected for an eternity, it's really great to see and hear praises for IN from so many directions. The great reissues surely play a part in it. By the way, the re-release of Suomi Finland Perkele was issued in honor of Finland's 100 years of independence. Fuck yeah! (which is more or less what perkele stands for, besides being another name for the horned one)

Tol Kormpt was so ahead of it's time that nobody else has gotten there yet. Maybe you had to be there when it was released. I can still remember the first time I heard it. Best Album, then Ugra Karma, then the 1990-2012 DVD.

Not those whinings a-la "oh, I forgot you" or "you left me", songs like when someone fell in love for the first time and it's harsh, but during 30s. Don't know what In Flames songs are now about, but they predominantly sang about "puberty problems" or something like that.

Glad to finally see someone talk about this band, definately on of my alltime favorites. As for all the filler tracks on tol comp norz, l was wondering that too since they had more than enough material from their demo's n'stuff they could have put on there but to be honest l think those tracks really give the album more of an atmosphere and turn it from just beztial filth into something more a kin to proper black metal.

Impaled Nazarene are the best at being black metal and keeping it interesting by incorporating thrash, hardcore punk and death metal elements in later years.. definitely not carbon copies of any other black metal band, no mistake it’s Impaled Nazarene when you hear them!

Impaled Nazarene, from best to worst: 1. Ugra-Karma 2. Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz (trivia: the title translates to 'All Shall be Numbered 666') 3. Suomi Finland Perkele 4. Latex Cult 5. Rapture 6. Nihil (stretching it a bit, but still listenable) There's not much to be found on anything after 'Nihil' (2000). The 'Decade of Decadence' compilation is great from start to finish, worth buying for the insane Sodom cover alone. It should be noted that lots of people have a certain preference for certain periods of the band. Personally, the first 3 albums are the glory period, and they featured the same line up (including 2 brothers, which can really help a band's dynamic). Kimo Luttinen left after 'SFP', and you can really hear it in the music, but the next 3 albums still had some value, albeit in a punk sense. After 'Nihil', the best thing they did was the Middle Eastern intro to 'Absence of War...' Just my opinion, though..

Abscence of War has an unique poppy hc punk/thrash vibe to it. They also got quite a lot of mainstream attention in Finland at the time, so maybe that influenced it. Even so, It's very unique and easy to listen. But when you want some typical black metal, you choose something instead of this. The album how ever has "Nyrkillä tapettava huora" which is one of their most un-PC songs. Basically a disstrack for a terrible ex-girlfriend. So much for the "girlfriend metal".

I love Impaled Nazarene but their biggest claim to fame is that Alexi Laiho(of Children of Bodom) used to play for them. I'm not sure if they would picked up a large enough fanbase to still be making music to this day that wasn't the case.
