A fellow student of Astronomy! Nice! Astronomy and Mass Communications (Journalism) were my subjects back in college. My idea was that if I couldn't become as Astronomer, I could become a Science Reporter at a newspaper, because newspapers hadn't started dying out just yet... unfortunately, I chose the wrong college. Two years into my degree, USF decided that a football team was more important than silly things like degrees and education -- so they cancelled the entire Astronomy program, fired the professors, sold all the gear to the Museum of Science and Industry across the street, and made all the credits I had earned in the program moot. My options were to finish up with Mass Comm alone, or transfer to another university and start from scratch... and I just couldn't dump that kind of financial burden on my parents. So I stuck with Mass Comm annnd.... became a Graphic Designer -- because newspapers had started phasing themselves into oblivion just as I graduated. I am god of bad timing! :P

He immediately became my favorite hermit in terms of their pre-KZbin story. He was published in a hard science where data is concrete. And I immediately knew why nothing seemed to phase him... He has sat before a peer review board. Well you know, it might be a quote from Carl Sagan, not really sure anymore, but there is a notion regarding the universe, that has stuck with me. The universe isnt something seperate from us, we are part of it. Every atom in our bodies was created by a sun, we are literally starstuff! And if you look at it that way, you could say, that we are basically the universes ability to observe itself.
@eloquentornot2 ай бұрын
@@Daniel-rd6st Yeah! The Minecraft End Poem has a part about "you are the universe reading its own code" etc and it's so cool how everything really is all made of the same stuff in the end, we tend to think of separate objects but that's just a useful concept for us, every atom is mostly empty space between the nucleus and the electron orbitals so it's not like things are "really" touching or not etc but also the reality we perceive is just as real because our minds are real, too many concepts to think about all at the same time, it's all so fascinating!!

If he doesn't have a running counter on his desktop for the fletching table fix, he should. I think one thing I've noticed about Cub's giant projects is that he's real good at breaking them down into smaller projects and getting those done in one or two videos. It takes a lot of organization, but he's not only a grinder, but he's efficient with his time as well. All the years of game mechanic testing is paying off. He also does projects that the other Hermits are interested in using when they're done, so they tend to help supply materials or do other things to make the builds go faster. Of course, it helps when a guy like Joe Hills is on the server, that lives to help others, and will drop resources on you at the drop of a hat. I think there's a lot of collaboration going on behind the scenes, not just to benefit Cub, but all the Hermits when they've got the nose to the grindstone.

Skizz, when you say you look out at the universe and think how vast it is, how unimaginably huge it is, it's incredible that we can indeed talk about it normally. It reminds me that we can look at things so large if not eternal and have eternity in our hearts, yet not be able to comprehend the end from the beginning. But in nature I see God, at least his handiwork, in everything good, in everything wholesome and beautiful and praiseworthy, and even, in an echo, in the evil and corrupted things in the world, for they once were good and now they are dead and dying. The wonder of the eternal is in my normal heart, yet I cannot see the end from the beginning.

Let's not even mention the absolute bender he went on for Ancient Debris, and everything else he built inside the pyramid.

Something I’d like to see with arrows possibly with the fletching table- stun arrows. The video showcasing the glow squid for the mob vote showed the players being stunned in place by the glow squid- almost hypnotized, no such abilities have been displayed by the glow squid. My idea is that glow ink could be used on arrows to make stun arrows, arrows that, when shot at a mob, stuns them for a few seconds. When you’re overwhelmed by mobs, shoot a couple of stun arrows and run away to get your bearings so that you can continue to fight.

I also have a BSc in physics and astronomy and I take a somewhat different view on our significance in the grand scheme of things. Yes, galaxies and black holes may be indifferent to us, but who cares what they think? As far as we can currently tell, values we care about like love, friendship, happiness etc only exist on planet Earth, and even if there are others out there, they are likely to be too far away to make a difference. In this regard I'd say we only appear more significant the more we zoom out. We are the diamond ore of the universe.
