⁠but also They also have similar aims, even if it’s with different perspectives Garp, with a humble beginning, the best he could do is join the marines, and help from there, liberating people one person at a time, even if he later discovered the issues within the marine system Garp then raised dragon to be a better version of him, but taught him too well, which lead dragon to realise the solution to liberation is revolution to the system finally, with luffy, garp attempted to repeat his own humble beginnings, but gave him too much love and not enough support, leading luffy to have the simple minded perspective, of wanting everyone to be liberated by having enough food, and being free, and doing whatever simple-minded thing he thinks of to achieve this, even if it means being king of the pirates all of them want liberation, but all had different backgrounds, leading to different perspectives and methods

He was not confused at Marineford. It was Luffy and Ace that didn't give him a choice. If he helped Ace, Ace would have never felt like he himself would acomplish anything. He was shadowed by his father his whole life ... if he was shadowed by Garp as well ... he would rather die. If he helped Luffy, he would have interfered with his dream as well. That is why Luffy told him "please, move aside" ... Imagine you grandchild at it's harshest moments ... Telling you to move aside, you being able, but unpermitted to help him. He was torn because the only way for him to support their dreams was to step aside or attack them. He is the greatest guardian a person could have ...

For some reason i want Garp to be still alive. There are many moments in one piece where someone had to die but didnt (Im looking at you Pell), but this is one of these moments where I just want him to be one of those fake deaths. I really want him to be able to see Coby and Luffy grow into the greatest people in the story. But after all we just have to wait and see. Great video!

Ehh, I disagree. Oda has shown countless times in this past that death in the one piece story is usually very far out of sight and out of mind for the readers. This is the case with not just main characters and protagonist but even antagonist who aren’t even crucial to the story, even lesser known side characters like Pell. The deaths that do occur are typically in flashback, or with like Marineford the countless unnamed marines etc. This isn’t game of thrones, I think the writer puts too much emphasis on the inevitable post arc banquets and celebrations and happy moments to really kill too many people off, and the people he did kill off like ace and whitebeard honestly was just unavoidable, and absolutely crucial not only to have us all invested into the future main antagonists black beard, admiral etc, but it was also a crucial point in breaking luffy, and making him actually show patience to get stronger, apart from his crew to avoid such deaths among his friends in the future. I don’t see how garps “death” could be anything other then a fake out , because outside of people questioning Kuzans true motivations or loyalty, it does nothing in driving the story further imo that a fake out can’t also do…and I just think it would be highly unlike oda to do in this way at this time

I have a theory relating to garp's backstory, my theory is that he properly hanged out with mountain bandits in the past, which is how he properly met dadan, not to mention he is also wielding a metal pipe, same weapon that sabo, ace and luffy used during their time living with the mountain bandits. I also believe his father was also a marine as well and treated him the same way Garp did with ace, luffy and sabo, hence why garp was so harsh on them. And properly at some point, garp was captured by pirates and tortured for a long time until he was saved by the marines, after all that he decided to join the navy, and the rest is history. He also properly knew the difference between good and bad pirates, as he properly compared the celestial dragons to the pirates that tortured him, which properly gave him his moral compass. But hey that's just my theory, who knows, maybe oda will give us a backstory of garp, just like he gave us the full backstory of Oden, Kuma, Bonney, Big mom and kaido along with many more.

Good video, but I hate when people say that Garp had to choose between "his job" or "career" and his family. That's an oversimplification. In reality Garp genuinely beleives the marines help people and stop evil ones. So he had to choose between potentially putting people at harm or beinf selfish and saving his family. He knew Ace surviving could have lead to more violence, maybe even a bigger war. That's why it was so hard on him... With Koby it was a no brainer. Koby wants to help and improve the marines, so saving him will not only be because he is his pupil, but also because it can mean many can be helped in the future, thanks to Koby...
