Now that your city has some historic buildings, like the baseball stadium and the Vauban fort, this might be located in the northeast USA or Québec. I think that a great name for this city could be called "Saint-Thomas-du-Val". It means "Saint Thomas of the valley" in old French and shows clearly the French heritage of the region. I assume that you want to build a big city, important in its region. Naming the city "Saint-Thomas" shows how deeply catholic the settlers were and how the city had a major impact on the region. The term "Val" makes sense as your old town is placed in a very steep hill and your river flows in a valley. To finish, I want to tell you I'm glad that you're making a video again. The format is entertaining, and I'm enjoying everyone so far. Thank you for your work.

@@gumbyshrimp2606Well, CS2 is a sandbox game and there is no wrong way to play it. You can play vanilla if you prefer it over modded, but most people receive more enjoyment out of the game when mods are turned on which is why almost all playthroughs on youtube use them.

I always love the way your videos make me feel. For the name suggestion: Acadia. This was the name of a french speaking part of Canada that was deported to Lousiana (where the term Cajun comes from, as a crude way of saying Acadian). Anyway I think this fits the city well because of how it can be representative of many parts of north america, much like how certain parts of the city take inspiration from different cities in North America.

I've been so glad to see you posting videos again, you're one of the best builders in the space. I am completely down for this mish-mash inspiration concept for the city. Listening to your concerns about the context of the lift bridge, and with the fort built in this episode, I wonder if you could build an old navy shipyard or industrial waterfront across the river that has since been given up by the military and turned into gentrified waterfront apartments that don't need access to the bay. I am imagining it just after the roadway bridge.
@QemeHАй бұрын
Whoever built the highway bridge over the river was like: "The old railway lift bridge? Nah, hasn't been opened in decades. No need for that much clearance under the road bridge"🤣🤣

@@imperatur And that's what we have here on the Forth: old swing bridge from the 1930s (Kincardine Bridge) but the new Clackmannan Bridge is just a straightforward bridge because the only river traffic now doesn't need clearance, since no coal ships use the river any more...

"Should I do a suburban build section next?" Proceeds to build a huge fortress. I really thought this episode was gonna be way more boring lol. Great work man. Seriously stunning. With the river though, barges would definitely be able to navigate up that river at least a decent ways. You can definitely make a custom loading dock area full of rubble props, stone props, lumber props, etc raw materials. Whatever industry you put up river it would definitely make sense to give it some pretend barge access. Ciao ciao for now.

as a french viewer who like history, I must say that your Vauban citadelle his magnificent! 🤩 as a city map lover, I just have a little critic. 🤔 in real historic city, the old town will go down to the river and the bay (the river is thin so maybe it will be across too), the football field will be the church place and it will finish with the old harbor. the old harbor will be transform as a pedestrian shopping street with pleasure boat and your oil and container port will be on the other side of the bay. but don't worry, I love your town and I will watch all your videos! 🥰

When you think about it, the rail bridge makes perfect sense. The river brings cargoes just that much closer to the old city and fort. When rails came into force, some years after the fort/old city was founded, and decades/centuries before the current port was created, the city would have insisted that the rail not block the river traffic supplying the city. Hence a rail bridge.

Very cool! no to nitpick, but the walls should get taller the closer to the center of the fort you go. if they are on the same grade (as they seem to be in the video) the forts defence is simply a trench with nothing physically in between a besieging force and those under siege. Additionally, I see where the inspiration for the additional exterior wall came from in quebec city, but the one added in the build doesn't serve much purpouse. The wall in the quebec city citadel connects further to a wall which encapsulates the entirety of the old city. since the wall in the build doesn't, it doesn't seem to make much sense being there. Other than that the build was great and I look forward to next episode!
