Imperial Guard vs Hypercrpt Necrons, Warhammer 40k battle report

Heretic Dave from ‪@HereticDave40k‬ brought the sauce in this one - so I happily returned the favour with a nasty Necron list.
This battle report was filmed before the points changes this week. Both lists are now 2000+ points at time of release (or maybe less than that - depending on when you're watching the video).

@@martind5565 That's what I'm saying, his rolls were terrible, he didn't spam Artillery/ Kasrikin/ Bullgryn, literally 1 unit of each, played into the strongest wanka faction, and came out pretty well. Crazy how someone compared his list to the ridiculous 10th edition tourney build. So if someone takes a single chimera, bullgryn squad, kasrkin, or emperor forbid a basilisk, they are copying his list. L00l wake up Guard community

Winters - your battle reports are the best on YT: fantastic tables, great armies, no annoying screaming voices, no distracting interruptions by chat, no constant begging for subscribers and $$. Please don't change sir! It must also be noted that all too frequently your opponents dice seem to let them down horrendously which kinda makes for very one-sided results. I know you use the same dice but the dice gods seem to handicap your opponents pretty frequently. Have you made a Dark Pact with them?

Anyone who watched this and commented that either his list was bad or his performance was bad has literally never watched a Guard battle report on yt. I have never even seen a Guard commander roll heavy bolters correct, HD is one of, if not the only Guard commander to do that. Dont even mention Mordian Glory when he'll roll a heavy bolter, call out the sustained hit, then 10 seconds later watch his opponent roll a heavy bolter 6 and silently let them forget the extra shot, happened in the most recent battle rep. Heretic Dave actually brings units that we don't get to see in every battle. I think someone mentioned how the game was over after the Tank commander did NO DAMAGE as Winters rolled 4+ after 4+, that was a pretty big swing. Dave's rolls were abso fuken lutely garbo, I take almost no tactical crunch away from this battle, it was just a decent watch. Definitely a few like, oh you shot that, well now I move away, that seemed to mess Dave up a little bit, Ik you said you guys talk off camera but it just doesnt sit right when he switches up after you do a "gotcha" type ability. Other than that I think a SMALL little optimization for Dave would be to roll your heavy stubber shots from all Leman Russ. At the last round when the chrono was on 1 wound, I was thinking, man 3/6 heavy stubbber shots per tank over the course of 2-5 turns actually probably makes a difference in the end. For the love of the Emperor if we keep seeing Dave appear on other channels and run Guard competently I'd be so elated. Keep rolling those heavy bolters correct brother.

Awe man those Guard rolls! No matter how well you plan something, the dice can mess it up. Realistically, one monolith should have been destroyed and the second heavily wounded. I'm just starting necrons as my second army. I'm so excited to get it up and going! However not looking forward having to get two 200 models

To answer winters question on snipers. Larkin from gaunts ghosts has a flat 4 damage shot. He absolutely does what snipers do.

I always feel sorry for guard armies, always look great with all the tanks and infantry, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a battle report where guard have actually won. I’d be curious to see their win ratios.

The by far strongest faction currently in 10th using its strongest detachment vs the guard that in its current state is more of a meme faction . Yeah.....this is like watching someone trying to make 2 inch charge .

Definitely not a top tier Guard army... it does nothing well & isn't even a good Hybrid list. This is just a bad version of the extremely janky netlist that was winning Super GTs by extremely experienced players... a sub-par Guard list piloted by a sub-par Guard player against Necrons which are just very good

Yup, doesn't have the "squadran" keyworld. But, if you had lord solar you could command him I think, plus 2 other guys, but at that point why even bring a commander if you are gonna bring solar.

Love this collaboration. Would like to see a rematch. The guard dice rolls never really turned around and dice tell stories. Unfortunately for the Catachans it was a story of woe and regret waking up these Necrons! Bit of a gotcha moment at 1:10 with the monolith picking up the warriors and denying the leman russ firing at them. Tactically should have fired the leman russ blast first instead of Solar's pistol if Dave knew that strat was a play. The board narrative was superb as usual blending with the competitive play. Thanks for sharing!
