You make a number of excellent points regarding the slow death of the Titan Legions. However. You fail to account for one thing. For the last ten thousand years, Roboute Guilliman has been gradually builidng up his legions of Primaris Titans in the Ultrafactories of Ultramar and stockpiling them in techno-tombs with Stasis-frozen Princeps. They're like regular titans, except bigger, and twice as durable, with cooler weapons (which they can't change out) and some of them can fly or peirce the earth with their drills. Naturally.

@@Baldermort Same situation here, I only just found out about your channel about 1 weeks ago, and a few days before that only just decided to look into the Warhammer 40k universe, with the thought of "you know what, I've heard so many things about 40k, from the games (most notably Space Marines and Deathwing from TheRussianBadger) to the vast lore to the memes (the Heresy meme video, I think you know which one). Let's see what this is about." Thus, I started with The Templin Institute, with the video about the fall of Cadia. Holy shit. I wound up watching videos throughout the entire night, which left me one day less for doing homework for college before the due date (I managed to get all my homework done, but damn was it close). Still, I didn't regret it (well, mostly). Then, I came across your channel with the Tyranids and the story of Abundus Turshia (I think I spelled it right), with the poor man who loved his people finally getting to rest easy after being saved by the Catachan warriors (who for some reason make me think of the real life badass Leo Major right now, highly suggest you look him up for the insane things he did) from the tyranids and then knowing that an Ork rock will be met with Major Kill and the Death Korps of Krieg (that is the farthest I have gotten in that story arc, having only watched your videos on the Lictors and Deathleapers, and the Catachan video that relate to that story arc, I wish for more, but there is no play list concerning that story arc, so I do not know what videos to watch to tune into that story arc). From that point, I loved your videos, from how you go from existing knowledge to just talking about the subject of the video, to how you talk (how you pronounce words to how you just talk) and how fitting your voice is. I love your voice when talking about 40k things. Normally, I like hearing the sound of a female narrating voice (I hope I am not being racist or insulting somehow), but your voice, oh man. Your voice is just so fitting for the videos, as if it is from the throat of a man who has seen the years pass in the universe of 40k; from a man of great wisdom; from a veteran. *No* other narrator could bring the same justice that you do to your videos. I just love hearing your voice narrate your videos. TBH, I have only just decided to subscribe to your channel, but I don't plan on ever unsubscribing from your channel. P.S., if you do get this comment, for some reason I would like for you to meet another KZbinr whom I am subscribed to: The Mighty Jingles, another fan of the Warhammer 40k video that served in the Royal Navy. For some reason, I think you two would get along very well. It would be nice if you could say something to tell me you got this comment.

I think Titan construction isn’t quite fleshed out yet in the lore. It’ll probably get retconned at some point, because based on current lore the Mechanicus should not be able to manufacture Titans at all because it’s Dark Age technology. Especially the AI part. If they had an STC they’d be able to mass produce them, but they don’t, so they just “remember” how to make them. Yet they don’t “remember” how to make anything else? And there’s those crazy OP psyker Titans, which again begs the question of who really builds these things.
@Baldermort4 жыл бұрын
Aye, its a bit of a hot mess, that one. I think they may tidy it up soon, but sort of like the mystery too. :)
@xenon39904 жыл бұрын
Soylent Green as far as I’ve heared Titans are the ONLY thing the Mechanicus actually builds and improves on. Not just copy paste it like an STC but actively improving it and changing it. There are even titans classes that have been invented by the Mechanicus themselves( I belive they invented the Reiver). The reason why they don’t mass produce em is because it’s a holy ritual that can take decades and also needs very specific, rare components. If even terminator armor cannot be mass produced titans can never be
@keineangabe18044 жыл бұрын
The thing about the Mechanicus is that they don't deal in science but ritual. They do not know how AI is made they have a ritual for a titan core. They do not know how a shield generator might work they do know the ritual to make one that works on titans. So now you might ask why they still know about titans when everything else was forgotten? Because there was never a time when the titan forgets where not needed. There where grim times where the Techpriests forgot a lot. But they never forgot the basics, the meat of their craft: Lasguns, power-packs, titans and starship engines. But why then do they advance their titan designs? Because there is no oversight. Normally the Techpriests have a strict oversight in all their fields. Every hint of derivation is dealt with swiftly and brutally. Except the titans. For the titans are _complicated_ . At the one hand they are needed. At the other they have AI and break the law. So the solution? Don't check and don't tell. Just let the Margi do their thing.
@xenon39904 жыл бұрын
Keine Angabe exactly. And this also ties in in Specific Titans being Built by specific forgeworlds. Take Ryza( i think Thats how its written.) they may use the Same STC for an Imperator class Titan as Mars. But they may Not have the Template for a Nova Cannon or their void Shield templates are damaged. They DO however have Access to the best plasma Based STCs in the Whole imperium. So instead of equipping their emperor Titan with a Nova cannon and lets say 10 void shield banks they Change the Equipment to something they Van actually produce, in this case a Macro plasma incinerator and a stronger Plasma Generator with More Output as well as 15 Weaker shield Banks That get Powered by it. Because as stated, they do this ritually. They BUILD their Gods. And so they will use any tech they have at their disposal to complete it, even if this means changing and Improving set designs as well as improvising Parts That are needed. Its literally of such high importance and priority to Build These machines if comissioned, That the Mechanicus will happily Break almost all rules and Doctrines laid down by the Cult mechanicus, simply because in their mind they´re Building something That Comes as close to their God as Possible. And that’s how the Mechanicus sees the commission of building a titan. Because either the emperor or the high lords or the Fabricator General commissioned those, which basically translates to „the messenger of our god ordered us to build this image of our god, thus we must complete this holy task by any means, and at any cost.“ And thats why the concept of Psy-titans exists for example. Because in some (albeit extreme) cases, even incorporating chaotic and xenos tech and thus committing tech heresy is worth the price of building a titan. And thus (and i cant stress this enough) ANY means necessary will be taken to build and complete a god machine. Even if it goes against holy tradition and forces the mechanicus to change, adapt and improve.

Thank you for the very generous feedback, brother. Alas, the short stories, the flavour pieces, that start the more recent entries are all my own invention. I sincerely hope this is not too large a let down. They are my ham handed attempts to make the factions more accessible to newer fans of the setting. I like to try to give, what I think, is the heart of the faction. Direct quotes seem to be hard to gain for this purpose. They are either too brief, or too involved. Also, I never claim to own or have read all of the books. I simply don;t have the time or resources for that. So, I hope you can see this is just an attempt to enthuse the newbie and entertain the old hand. Nothing more. Many thanks for listening, brother. : )

These Behemoths, these Gods of War are what brought me to the Warhammer Universe as I love all things Big Stompy Robots. For me to simply calls these Magnificent Living Machines Robots though seems somehow wrong, wholly, woefully inaccurate and lacking. I can not wait to learn more of them and for you to be the one teaching, enlightening me as to what they well and truly are. This verse is vast and oh so much fun to learn about, think about and simply revel in all of it's strangeness. It's so harsh and dark yet to me these Titans are a light, a flame that draws me. Do principes have to listen to stories that start eith bibary" back in my day"? Is their a senile one that just sits onna mountain picking at his screws all day? Do they all have OMS - Old Man Smell- and cover it up with garlic breath and Irish Spring Rustoleum? I NEED ANSWERS!
@Baldermort3 жыл бұрын
It’s due to the tech coming from the golden age, so it’s usually self repairing and intensely advanced alloys that are utterly resistant to age or most corrosives. I think the colour of pills needed is a deep arcane secret of the tech priests of Mars. I could answer but we’d both be marked for elimination. Yes! I would imagine binaric boredom is often the first trial most young princeps have to endure before going near a cockpit. Old man smell would probably get over payed by pungent oil and tech pong. But we need to get a committee to chose the people to form a bureau to pick the pick required to make a focus group on this one. Just to be sure. I think that covers most of it? :)

some one at WG missed a 0 off the height of the titans. just walk out 14 meters and look how small it is even if it is just for a war hound
@Baldermort4 жыл бұрын
Those are only the smallest ones. I intend to do another entry on the whoppers soon on a Wargear Wednesday. :) Well said though. Very well said brother Leeboy. :)
@arnepietruszewski92552 жыл бұрын
Your assesment of the size of Titans is a bit on the short side though. How do you want to put meters thick armor on something that is only 14 meters high? When you put in all the systems that are needed to run such a machine you wont have space left for meters of armor.
@Baldermort2 жыл бұрын
I go by what’s in the books basically. I don’t always agree with that projected by them, but I can’t invent things that are contrary to that which I’d stated by GW really. :(
@arnepietruszewski92552 жыл бұрын
@@Baldermort Yeah but from what I know of the lore there is not a definite answer to the height of Titans. Somebody said 14 to 40 meters but then if you compare the models from FW to a space marine which in reality should be like 8 foot tall it doesnt add up. And there is the rumor that Emeperor Titans are 100 meters or more tall so putting a Warlord at 60 meters a Reaver at 40 and a Warhound at 25 meters seems a lot more reasonable to me. Not that walking machines have any reason at all on any battlefield. Cause why would you have a towering machine that is basically a walking target and that cant get into cover or hide instead of a tank that hugs the ground and is probably a much more stable weapons platform.

Its a team effort. Honestly. We did this. We. : ) And we're going to get even better. There'll be mistakes along the way, but with the brotherhood behind this content, giving constructive guidance where needed, I feel we can do almost anything. : )

@@Baldermort I don't even play Warhammer, it's the lore that gets me into it. And the community of content creators like yourself and other Warhammer-dedicated channels that keep me hooked. Speaking of which, are there any good books or audiobooks that you would recommend? If I may, perhaps creating playlists for ease of compartmentalizing topics of discussion? Could have a playlist based on the Imperium, another on Orks, another on Eldar, etc. Just to make things neater and easier to find. That is my humble recommendation to this channel.
@Baldermort5 жыл бұрын
Wow. Well, thank you brother. I never thought anyone who didn't play would be interested. An eye-opener. But there are amazing sites out there. Amazing ones. Have you listened to the Horus Heresy line? Ok, some are better than others, but for a consecutive immersive experience I'd do them one at a time. The style and content does vary, but its a road worth treading, well in my very limited opinion. I have made some play lists, but I will look at them again. Thank you, brother. Always grateful for any guidance. : )

Just one question. Since when are Warhound Titans no longer 35 meters high? As far as I know, a Warhound is 35m high, a Reaver 60m high and a Warlord 80m high.

Titan numbers have drastically been culled due to the heresy, but the production rate of them has been much the same, albeit a bit lower. The reason for this is that titans are not remembered through STC (Standard Template Construct AKA blueprint for a machine to build the item you want) but rather forge worlds and their occupants remember how to assemble titans through the knowledge handed down throught the generations. Though due to the heresy and a lot of forgeworlds/titans being lost, titan production is mostly the same as its been since the time of the emperor
