This performance is proof that NOT ONLY can you play this kind of music without triggers, but that it sounds more authentic when it's done this way. Could you imagine how much less expressive this performance would be if Kenny's kick sounded like a typewriter or his snare had no dynamic range to it when he hit it? Just raw power here from a master. Been a fan since seeing him work with Secret Chiefs 3!
