Glad you reviewed and also enjoyed it! I feel when it comes to the extremer forms of black and death metal leaning to dissonance we're really gifted with a few exceptionally inventive bands and this is definitely one of them. IT's other albums we're very authentic and already peak of the genre but they just don't draw you in as much as this imo. Remember Ulcerate's atmospheric interludes who feel like a necessary evil after a certain time? We're far beyond that now, wherever your mood gets driven by this the way it takes is not dull in the least. The Transition in The Filth is so nice because her voice makes you dizzy and tripping on the way out of the riff, it's just so well rounded. Have a nice day, and keep up the habit of reviewing a good portion of the really special stuff.

Ivan Moll new tomb mold (death metal), Uada (black metal), batushka (not this year, but their debut was fantastic), immortal (black metal), Watain (black metal) Panopticon (atmospheric black) Skeletal remains (death) Funeral mist/marduk (black metal, both dropped new albums and I believe they share vocalists). That should be enough to start. Highly suggest the r/metal page and you'll get great reccomends.

Jazz is by definition music that is mostly improvised. The jazz elements in this work are superficial. A song isn't jazz just becuase uses brass instruments that play blues scales.

Nice! A very good one indeed. Another good one I hope you could enjoy would be Archaist - Cosmogenic Eyes. It's incredibly smooth Black Metal, not straying far into the land of dissonance but a coherent written EP that's kind of a joy to follow along.

2018 is being a surprisingly strong year for metal. I honestly thought the genre was hitting an all-time low the past couple of years. The Summoning, Black Label Society, Arkona, Immortal and Nervosa all released pretty strong albuns this year. And there's even more promising stuff on the horizon with High on Fire, Clutch and, my personal hype album of the year, Warrel Dane's posthumous album. EDIT: Also, how could I forget BEHEMOTH??
