Looking forward to the complete review. After living many years in China (and my wife is Chinese) I can tell you that from every grade in school and into working years, Chinese tend to take a nap after eating lunch. That would explain the front sleeper seats.

I always liked to take a nap after a meal and was able to do so in my car - actually, my ambulance. Was a NYC paramedic and if we weren't on an assignment we could find a nice spot to relax. (Some days we worked very hard and on others we might get only a couple of easy assignments.) So anyway, I can testify to the restfulness of sleeping like this - the rumble of an idling diesel V8 is a great lullaby. Yes, one partner would be awake! Yes, constantly idling diesels are far from eco friendly. NYC is trialing ambulances with Lithium batteries to keep them powered when sitting.

I got those floormats for my Miata many years ago. I think the original designer or least popularized the quilted floormat was a Japanese tuning house. Once they were copied and sold on Aliexpress they quickly became popular across Asia and in the tuner community. With all the Munro talk of the Chinese invasion, I'm more interested in this teardown then the 'Plaid' (which I reckon is mainly going to be about what the drive train looks like). My theory on the size of the door, is that the Chinese venerate their elderly so this car was made to make life easier for the grand parents to be trucked around in. That and the elaborate quilted stitching everywhere, make me think that this is a car made for Chinese tastes.

The floor mats in China are all like that, they cover everything and they're great to clean out. I looked this up online; their first BIG feature in the ad was the supposedly great sound system. Strike one there--the Army figured I couldn't hear well enough to pill a trigger in Viet Nam. And no trunk? No sale. Reminds me of the story about the Australian sheep rancher who had a Rolls Royce. Once when he took it in for maintenance the dealer observed that even though it continued to serve him well, it was getting on in years, and wondered if he might be interested in one of the new models. Rancher takes one look at the new model and says, "No, it won't do." Why not? "It doesn't have running boards." What do you want running boards for? "Where else you going to put the dead sheep?"

The next step up has power liftgate. Regarding "Imperium", I would have a problem paying $35-49k from a company I've never heard of and with no service presence in the US. Chinese car companies will have a hard time importing these cars with the big tariffs into the US. Gray market through Canada is not a sustainable solution. I'm tall with long legs and arms. I find most vehicles to be too small ergonomically. I'm curious how comfortable the seat is, where the headrest hits, and whether the steering wheel tilts and telescopes? I drive a Rav4, which I find to be fairly comfortable, especially on long drives. The only issue I have with the Rav4 is the headrest tilts forward an extreme amount, making it impossible to rest your head back. It's not bad when you're sitting up but if you're parked or a passenger and want to lay back it's terrible. I actually remove the headrest if I'm parked for an extended period of time. It's very frustrating that so many vehicles are designed for smaller people. This seems to be a new trend because I don't remember older vehicles being like that.

@@theolich4384 Skoda's Kodiaq was revealed a year before VW's. You're correct it could be to meet Chinese demand, but also to provide compact 7seaters to all markets

I looked the specific model up as seen here and they aren’t as cheap as people think. Every Chinese car I’ve looked at has been surprisingly expensive, except for the BYD products. I don’t see anything here that would make me wanna trade in my vehicle or pick this over an ionic 5 or Bz4x/Solterra.

No comment on the lack of a frunk? If an OEM had done that, they’d have been raked over the coals.

Sandy mentions it in the end, but I agree, VW was torn into pieces for it, with a much smaller front section this is (this looks more like based on an ICE model)

@@stprinz Yes, he mentions it almost parenthetically as he's looking into the trunk. I'd just like to see some equal treatment.

In Austria this car is called the ET5. You can get an 812 page manual with it so you can repair it yourself, in case your local Best Buy is out of ideas. It also comes with black floor mats that have the BMW M Logo and the font says "LUCKY" which is seems like something you would order from aliexpress except it costs a whopping 46.000€. But I hope the car itself is nice! So it costs the same (even more) as a Model 3 here. I dont think it will sell well at that price. Maybe it is better priced in other markets.

It'll cost you, or your neighbor, your job. It's the same thing. Until the balance of trade with China comes down, your community can not afford the loss of capital.

@@MunroLive my dear. I'm planning to buy my first EV, with my budget I can get a 2019 Kia e Niro or 2020 Skywell. Which one do you recommend please?

With the front seat positioned for a refular length person your feet are pushed back when sitting in the back seat and then youre not getting the support for the legs anymore.

Can you get a replacement seal or does your brand new car have a piece missing forever?

no, Dealership, so Sandy is FCUKED.

The rear door might be big measured on the outside, but the actual entrance gap into the car is much smaller.
