You probably know it, but combining broken tools gives you a 5% durability bonus. I don't know why I didn't fix this earlier. The above is technically incorrect. Minecraft uses fancy math to come up with something close-ish to that number. Minetest Game actually uses a set percentage to make it simpler though.

I have an idea to make the challenge feasible without the use of backups. 1. Zombies/skeletons who picked up items won't despawn 2. With maximum local difficulty, 55% of zombies/skeletons can pick up items (easy to get high local difficulty if you afk a lot, after less than 20 hours of playing you get the 55% rates) This means you could use this mechanic to avoid losing 20 min starving yourself, and have a spawning attempt every ~6s instead of every 20 min. The steps required to achieve this : - Use the starvation technique to get any loot from skeleton or zombie (takes you 12 hours on average). You have to wait 20 hours anyway for the next part of the grind, so let's fix the time spent on this part at 20 hours. - Drop this item on the ground. - Every mob that picks up the item won't dispawn. Unfortunately, zombies with a shovel won't pick the item since they already have a weapon. Skeletons won't aswell. - However, zombies with armor will pick up the item, allowing you to farm armors (with max local difficulty, which you have after 20 hours of play time, 15% of zombies are geared, and 55% of them can pick up your loot) - On average, a geared zombie has 3.44 pieces of armor with max local difficulty. - At night, it should take you 1 min 48s to get a spawn (18 attempts in the video*6 seconds, which is the time it gets to drop in the void, die from full hp, and respawn. btw it's probably shorter than this since you would fall longer, which means more time spent in spawning range so less attempts needed). Out of these, 30% of them are zombies. 15% of them wear armor with 3.5 pieces on average. 55% of them will not despawn because they pick up the random loot. - After the maths, that means you get an armored zombie that can't despawn every 72.7 minutes. - Drop rate is very high (8.5% per armor piece). However, if the mob spawns with a helmet, you would have to wait that it breaks before it takes damage from the sun (yes, helmets of zombies/skeletons break after some time under the sun). So they would only have 3 armor pieces. Which brings the amount of armor pieces to 2.71 on average. - Every time you kill a geared mob, you would have 21.26% chance to drop an armor on average. - This means it would take 5.7 hours on average to go from 1 random loot item to 1 piece of armor. Double it because you can't do anything during the day. Total time playing is now 30.4 hours. - You now have armor. This means a zombie with a shovel can pick it up. Let's do the math : 1 mob every 1 min 48s. 30% are zombie, 1 zombie every 6 minutes. 55% can pick up loot, so 1 persistent zombie every 10.9 min. 3.33% of them have a shovel, so 1 persistent shoveled zombie every 5.5 hours. 8.5% drop means you get the shovel after 64 hours on average. Of course, this only works at night so you would have to double the time to get there (day is fully afk). So 128 more hours, half of it is full afk. Which brings the total time playing to 158 hours (around half of it is full afk) On top of that, you can also go for the bow route at the same time and get your first block with wool. It takes 2.1 hours on average to drop a bow from a skeleton that can't despawn. Which means 4.2 hours because you wait during the day. Which means 34.6 hours of total play time to get a bow. However, once you have a bow, it takes 150 hours on average to get a sheep spawning (it's really rare with 1 block like this). Thing is, by combining the 2 methods (shovel route with persistent mob + bow route and killing sheep), it should take on average around 130 hours to get your first block (once you get it, things become exponentially faster, it should take less than 20 hours to get a 3rd block). Without backups. That's a lot (and it requires active play time after the first 12 hours of starvation strat), but humanly doable. You also don't need to worry about any other spawns (creepers will despawn since they can't pick up anything). You only have to practice to make sure you deal with mobs properly. If you get any mob, you want to kill it to get your item back anyway, so you will have to wait the day and die over and over from it (unless it's a zombie and you do the trick in the video) It shouldn't fall in the void if you don't punch it/if you don't push it with your collision box. You don't have to player kill the mob to get your item back.

Dude you got a good durability shovel AND an ingot drop in one? That's crazy. Exploiting saves is the ONLY thing you have working in your favor, and if you didn't, this series would take drastically longer. You're a better man than I. No way in hell I'd have the patience for this.

So most of it was done on my discord server with a handful of witnesses. But which places did you think could be faked easily? All the big grinds just include using backups which is already a gray-zone if talking about cheating, and you see the process leading up to me getting the desired item.

@@ImPinu not accusing or anything, big props to you for all of this. one thing that might've caught my eye a tad is 28:22 you went from 27 blocks and 2 balls at cut to 27 blocks, 2 balls, and 15 extra stacks i believe you just started recording when you were felt like you had enough blocks and wanted to place some down, but i could see suspicion from that clip. you definitely cant record every shovel grind and every snowball grind in the video again im not accusing you, massive props for doing this, looking forward to watching all the episodes of this :)

@@ImPinu I don't think any of it is fake, I just really like the documentation of things. But I suppose it could also help with people that don't believe you. Either was I think it is all really impressive!!

I never even thought of the iron shovel-snow technique, I thought the block on the thumbnail was just a wool block. Mad props, you're a madlad.

you should watch the original video linked in the description. He's the one who thought of that technique in the first place, and is the reason why this video existed.

@@obsidianobserver This comment is actually surprisingly well-timed, as I finally came across Jokey's series at the end of this series after skipping over Pinu's explanation like an idiot. This community has way too many madlads, I swear.

Even the computer would give up. I guess with rng manipulation it would be wayyyyy faster but if it’s just a movement TAS then it’s just gonna be one really long recording lol

Dude the dedication for that initial start. Now that you have a platform its gotta be exponentially better but DAMN that start was rough. Like human technology going from basic tools for thousands of years, simple metal tools for a couple hundred, and in one century we've gone from the first flights on earth to the first flights on mars
