I'm almost finished with a 2 year journey with dentures. I got 5 implants on the bottom and 4 on the top, a total of 9 implants, and it was 18,000 for the implants and all the bone grafts.....cash.... And I was not allowed to make payment installments, I had to pay it all up front in order to get started with the procedures. Originally I was going to go the route of getting regular dentures, because it was all I can afford, but my family stepped in last minute to help, thank God, and we switched the original treatment plan from regular dentures to overdentures. I wore regular dentures for a whole year and it was a total nightmare. Tons of glue, and you are so limited to what you can eat because they constantly dislodge. My mom has had a wonderful experience with her dentures and her stay in with barely any glue, some people get lucky and they get a really good fit and the standard dentures work well for them but that was not my story. I'm in the middle of a 6-week fitting process for my overdentures. Now that all of my implants healed, as well as having to get an extra implant put in the bottom due to one of them failing, I'm finally ready after almost 2 years to have the overture made. The regular dentures would have been covered by my insurance, but the price changes drastically on your teeth when you get implants because you can no longer use standard dentures and you need an implant supported denture. My teeth went from being a $50 copay to 4,600. So the grand total form the implants, bone grafts, and the implant supported dentures is almost 23,000. That is an insane amount of money. It is honestly not affordable for a majority of people and it is so unfortunate because the quality of life goes up drastically when using an overdenture as opposed to standard dentures. But on the flip side, I got my smile back and I got my confidence back, and years and years of pain and cracked teeth, extractions, abscess and infections, and all around horror with my teeth over the years, it's all done and over with and I got back so much. I will be able to eat things that I haven't been able to eat for over a decade. I think the amount of money for these procedures is absolutely ridiculous and unfair. But you get what u pay for, and I got phenomenal work done. If my family didn't help me out with a 7,000 payment, I would still have the standard dentures, so for them I am truly grateful. If you have the means to go the implant route......do it.

This video should be watched by anyone preparing to make a denture choice. Thanks, Dr. Sami. I start a re-evaluation process for replacing the standard version false teeth I got one year ago in Mexico. (Admittedly, there was an unfortunate language-communication barrier.) The surgery was horrendous!!! No exaggeration. The teeth look beautiful out of my mouth. In place, they changed my smile significantly. prevent me from tasting flavors, created a lisping I will never grow accustomed to, and slip occasionally when I laugh normally (but with a very abnormal and embarrassing moment trying to tongue them back into place). One year of ego-busting unhappiness. Am excited to pay the extra cost to get my life back! My advice: replay this video several times, go to your dentist with these facts, listen closely to your dentist, make an educated choice. If your choice is expensive, remind yourself that you get what you pay for!

DENTIST SHOULD MAKE THESE PROCEDURES AFFORDABLE!!!! Most people have no choice but to walk around with bad teeth because they can’t afford them…like myself, there is one place here in town that’s expensive but they take monthly payments, I got an appointment Tuesday hopefully I can afford the down payment

Even debated getting a loan. (Not that I could actually get one) Now I’m going to Mexico! I’m convinced after talking to friends who’ve actually had plenty of procedures in Mexico! On top of my cost will only be $10k!!! Don’t care what fear monger others have tried to scare me with. If you do your research there are plenty of amazing options in Mexico!

We need to take care of our teeth. You know what’s affordable? Toothpaste and floss. I paid $30,000 for full lower implants. My teeth were horrible because I did not take care of them. ME. It was my fault and nobody else’s. I had to take out a loan from my bank. YES… it is the amount of a car, but do you have any idea what goes into these procedures? People are talking about going to Mexico or overseas because it is cheaper. Dental implants are a huge medical procedure which means there is are a lot of follow up visits. Are these people going to go back 6-7 times in the 6-7 month healing process? You are correct, It it extremely expensive! There is the surgeon who went through thousands of hours of training. The anesthesiologist, the labs that make the teeth, the dental hygienists, the dentist who makes the final molds. Dentists don’t even do these procedures. Surgeons do these procedures. You say people have no choice but to walk around with bad teeth because they can’t afford them. We were given a perfectly healthy set of teeth for free. All we had to do was take care of them. We didn’t. So now we are in this situation and are telling the dentists to make these procedures more affordable?!?! We can’t have our cake and eat it too.

I'm a dental tech.for 48 years.We do full dentures and over dentures.You are right on the pros.and cons.on both.In my opinion being able to remove both type of dentures for cleaning is a big benefit.How long do all on 4's usually last as they are not tissue supported and if one implant fails the whole bridge fails.I have experience doing crown and bridge and would never consider making a full arch bridge on just 4 existing natural teeth.Your thoughts on that. Thanks
@kymstock18523 жыл бұрын
I am a retired dentist who was involved in implant cases; both surgical and prosthetic aspects. You are right that loss of one implant will result in failure of the whole bridge. The engineering aspect of having a cantilever supported by an angulated implant of the Nobel Biocare design , where the internal abutment fixing screw is stressed, will eventually lead to failure. There is no back up in this design to allow for loss of an implant. Failure time will relate to the muscle strength of the patient and the length of the cantilver section behind the last/ most distal implant.

There's no separation between the bar and dental material with near normal bone compressive qualities. I'm less than a year into having full mouth restoration. I cannot be more pleased. They created a new mouth for me, in that my palate has always been Very narrow, but now I've a wider smile with no overbite. I had to learn where to situate my tongue. I now look like I've always wanted and I've full chewing abilities The cleaning is a learning curve and gets better as I go. That was my only concern that I've had. Greed is the reason you can't get a frame of reference. Not mentioned is that the top Overdenture/Snap-In/Snap-On (has implants and is removed everyday by patient for cleaning and over night soaking) prosthesis has an open palate for better sense of food taste, texture and temperature than the traditional denture. The All-On-Four (patient cannot remove the prosthesis) has an even greater open area for the palate, plus must be cleaned daily using a WaterPik-type water flosser and not a regular flossing thread (that flosses between individual natural teeth) but a dental floss threader that the patient must thread into the space between the gum and the prosthesis.

I have a hybrid zerconia implant bridge replacing my front teeth. Pricey, had to have this because my exhusband a DENTIST, screwed up my teeth, he decided he should root canal my teeth before crowning them shortly before our wedding. They were perfectly healthy, not even a filling. A year later one abscessed, he did the root canal again, some years later after we were divorced, redone by a endodontist. Then it went bad again. Long story shortened, it destroyed bone and for aesthetics had four teeth, all his root canals removed. Went to the dental school he attended (they were horrified by his work) and 3 years of bone grafts, tissue, implant surgery, and 16k have a beautiful smile again. Yeah, lesson one not all dentists are good dentists. Expensive to repair but think about what people spend money on. Full mouth restoration, about the cost of a really nice vehicle, and people don't think that's crazy, and your health. Buy a used car.

There is a HUGE difference between glued in and snap in dentures!!!!! I'm not sure but am leaning toward snap in for my Crystal Ultra / Trilor bar hybrid finals vs screw retained. After weighing pros and cons vs Zirconia I'm sold on benefits of Nano Ceramic Polymer over Zirconia at same price point for final teeth. Both are enormously superior to acrylic/plastic teeth - with or without hybrid T bar. But they do cost more too. Wearing snap in acrylic denture now - and no need to take out over night - I can easily snap in and out for quick rinse (faster than water pick and floss) and a 3 minute cleaner while I'm in shower is my daily routine. They require virtually no upper palate as they 100% do not rely on any suction! If done correctly and on at least 3 implants they will not (do not ) move at all. I am a steak and nut eating fool since I converted from glue palate dentures to snap in. And major noticable difference in taste as well s comfort!!! I am a smoker and 2 implants went bad - from smoking but also from grinding glued in denture on my jaw and new implants. No more grinding trying to get better fit/suction! If you can't afford 10-12 implants and state of art material do at least upgrade to snap in acrylic denture!!!! In New York my dental work would have cost at least $75,000 - an amount I could not ever afford. At Smilemakeover in beautiful Playa Del Carman its costing me 1/3 of that! Thrilled with the snap in temps!!! Can't wait for finals in a couple more months!!!

I got dentures about 2 months ago. It made me feel like I had aged 100 years. I knew the day was coming when my dentist was gonna say "I can't help you anymore. You need to see a denturist". It was a bit of a shock. I had a serious dependency on heroin for most of my adult life. Almost 30 years. Most people won't know this but there's a lot of vomiting involved when you use heroin. When it's really strong it can make you nauseous to the point of vomiting and then when you go into withdrawal there is a lot of vomiting of stomach acid. Then you add methadone into the mix - a substance notoriously hard on the teeth. I've been on it for 24 years. Now here's the crazy thing - I maintained normal oral hygiene all those years..brushing, flossing, listerine but NONE of it combatted the fact my teeth were getting splashed with stomache acid and weakened by methadone. In the one week prior to my dentist sending me for dentures I lost 3 teeth. In one week. So how are the dentures? The denturist told me I'd be able to chew all foods again guaranteed. Yeah right. Not a chance. I was SO let down by this. Chewing was a huge issue for me and the new grill hasn't changed that. So what's my point? If there's just ONE person who reads this who is dabbling in heroin or has romanticized the junkie esthetic through the books, films, or music they consume maybe they will heed this cautionary tale - your liver is gonna get wrecked, your hands are going to get all red, purple-y and swollen from bad circulation, your bowels are gonna get all scarred up from gnarly opiate-induced constipation, and most unpleasant - you can kiss your teeth goodbye. Don't kiss your teeth goodbye.

I have a question regarding the implants, for snap in dentures and all on 4. Because of the implant going into the bone, how much discomfort/pain is expected during the healing process, and after the healing process? I can't imagine snapping in dentures or taking them out at night won't hurt or be uncomfortable. The same applies to eating; what can be expected for putting force/pressure onto the implants? I need to get major work done, and I'm leaning towards all on 4, but I wanted to gauge where things are before moving forward.
@luceroalvarezmona39933 жыл бұрын
Hi, do some research about strategic implantology, you will save time and pain with your treatment. (Fast treatment, fast recovery, less invasive surgery, in 3 days they realize you a complete arch on implants) 😀
@slaction3 жыл бұрын
I have 13 implants with Hybrid dentures (permanently attached to implants). So long as your implants are placed well and your bone is healthy enough, you're not going to feel anything related to putting force on the implants. You don't want to go pushing on them in the first couple of weeks, but after that it's just like pushing down on your actual teeth. There is no pain, even when biting down as hard as you can. The healing process is a pain, not going to lie. It's not really from the implants though, it's from the trauma your gum tissue has to go through during the extractions and implant placement. It's 100% worth the pain, but I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Post surgery was pretty brutal. After a week you're basically used to it and it's not as bad, but those first few days are rougher than I was expecting.

My wife and I had the snap in dentures for lower done, hers was last year mine is this year, and as far as pain/discomfort goes, I will not sugar coat it, it is indeed painful for both of us. A week in my opinion is min. needed to feel somewhat normal to be able to talk ok, forget about eating, get a tasty protein shake mix to help with nutrition. 4 implants was installed on our lower jaws and I am waiting for my jaw to fully heal before I get my new teeth/dentures to snap in. My wife is done with her's and she loves them, they do look great and care is easy. just remember tho, the O-rings will need to be replaced at least once per year to keep a proper fit. She is able to eat steaks with no problems but tells me tho the taste on foods has diminished by at least 30 % but she has a regular denture upper but we gotten their highest tier model and it fits her very well. I will go for the implants on my uppers next year and we can then compare notes on the difference between the two. Cost wise, as you know will vary depending on location and dentist but lets say it is not cheap by a long shot but well worth it. You will hate the interm dentures they give you while you are healing and indeed feel the " What have I done " feeling as I am feeling now. I am only able to eat mush ( oatmeal with cinnamon, pudding etc ) but it is all part of the process. I recommend you eat all of your favorite foods before having the procedure done.

You're not telling all. You're leaving so many factors out. I've been wearing dentures for 25 years. I have NO problems. You just try to get people to spend money they don't have to get implants. People can't afford what YOU and several other dentist price them at!

I agree that there are plenty of amazing upper and lower dentures that do so well for patients! I didn’t mean to persuade any person one way or the other. I’m sorry if it came across that way

I'd literally do anything to get the all on 4 implants, or even the snap on dentures. How expensive can they be? Thanks man! Great info!
@lollipop74583 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it’s quite difficult to get that info. It’s been yrs now since my extractions & it’s like 1 of the U.S most closely guarded secrets or something. While this dude gave a ballpark, it’s just that. He’s the 1st to even kinda sorta offer a hint. These dentists “recommending” the ‘all on 4’ are quite obvi well coached in the sales aspect as they use all the same lingo, examples & selling points. Go figure. I get they’re trying to sell something, but if the typical dentures is all u can afford, you’re not a peasant. They are also quite expensive. WITH insurance. Good luck!

How does it feels carrying false teeth in mouth ? Did you ever complain that there was an overweight and strange thing in your mouth. How long did you use to them. And how is the bite feeling. Is that close to natural teeth ? I m asking them because dentist checked my teeth and advised to me to extract all teeth and put all on 4 instead. My all teeth are still on my mouth but started to loose due to advanced periodontal disease and after xray it s found out there are much bone loss also but still enough for all on 4 option.

Can someone explain the price gap, I mean I can understand this is very in depth which I love . Is it the hardware for the all on four that makes it this much more expensive? Both could have four implants .. both have hardware , the difference in the teeth is the zirconia. It just seems like a big gap but I’m not a dentist.. they just keep taking my money lol
@SmileInfluencers2 жыл бұрын
Hard question to answer Robert! What I can tell you is that this is a very complicated procedure that involves detailed surgery, planning and a team of dentists to get done right. The implant components have a cost, the denture material has a cost, the time and planning and experience of the oral surgeon who is performing the procedure …. But I get that this procedure is damn expensive and I hope that with time we can find more efficient cost effective way to drop the price and help more people! Wishing the best - sami

You mentioned the loss of bone mass as an issue over time. How does that apply with the 'All in Four' option...?
@brainstew4you9523 жыл бұрын
That's my question too. The bone loss, infection issues, foreign objects in the jaw line. For as much as the last option costs and still a pain and potential bone damage. Doesn't seem worth it at all.

@@melissaweigh4508 I actually haven't done the sinus lift part yet. The posts hurt, (I got bottoms done already) but it's not unbearable. It's been a week since I had the posts put in. And the bruises and swelling are almost gone. It's going to be a long process, but it will be worth it. 😊

@@brainstew4you952 most people don’t need a sinus lift. If you’re having top and bottom done. Usually they are done a week apart. Medication reduces pain and swelling. Bone grafts and implants are done at the same time. Then there is a 3 month wait to ensure there is no rejection. And finally the teeth are fitted. Best thing I’ve ever done. Cost €10K 😁 denttourtravel

Sorry to bother you with this but I have scoured the internet for information it was suggested I look into implants but dont have the money for it.I am 40 years old and my teeth were bad as a kid from soda and other things before I ever became able to take care of them.as I said I am 40 years old and have never been able to smile without insecurity my daughter asked me why I am never smiling in any pictures.sorry to just dump that on you but I am getting desperate for answers...thanks I appreciate your time

You didn't mention adhesives , the goopy seeping slime all over your teeth and gums. The change in taste of foods. There's so many foods I can't eat! . I rarely wear the bottom. partial and it hurts to eat with it in.. Taking out the denture and cleaning your mouth of the rubbery sticky adhesive. I obtained my denture and partial through a dental donation and after 2 years the denture doesn't fit. I now have dental insurance and want a better option before I starve of malnutrition and so I can take my mask off in public. Maybe someday I can dine with family again. I like the idea of a permanent denture.

I had the implants but within 2years lower right snapped then 3 teeth upper bridge the broke off then the leftside lower molar broke from the implant and now the remaining midle section in lower jaw fell out costing a very high price , now have no teeth in lower jaw for eating and this was all done at a dental teaching hospital in UK
