This might be a weird reason to praise the show for, but I think it has easily the best Sam Lane ever. They found the perfect balance of a stern, somewhat distant but still loving father & military man who *has* be prepared for any eventuality. I'm so glad they made Clark okay with that, too. He's Superman, of course he'd recognize the need to be able to stop him if the worst came to pass.

He genuinely loves his kids, cares about protecting the world, isn't afraid to make tough decisions, and is still a stern military guy like he usually is. I love the Anderson fake out thinking he will fill in be a villain and maybe supplant the bad guy only for it to be revealed that he wasn’t a cynical power hungry dude but rather someone who genuinely believed what he was fighting for (even if what he was fighting for was bad) it was wild to see him genuinely feel remorse and try to make amends when he realized everything he did. Plus I only just realized that the reason why I lived the dynamic between Superman and Anderson was cause these dudes were literally Peter and Derek hale like no wonder they had phenomenal chemistry

To further gush about it like there are a lot of hints early on that he’s genuinely doing what he thinks is best. I was surprised by how good the show actually is. It blows every CW show out of the water, even Smallville. It has my favorite General Lane, one of my favorite Lois Lane's, a great Lana Lang, and the stories are well crafted, surprising, and epic. This show didn't just reinforce my love for Superman, but it made me care deeply about every character on the show. Not just Clark and his family, but Henry and Natalie, who are two of my favorite characters, and Lana and her family, even Kyle. I like the direction they went in with Lana becoming the mayor and finally learning the truth about Clark. I also like the direction they are going in with Tal Row and I want to see what he does next. I hope it comes back on HBO Max for more seasons since the CW is ending. Also, Jon needs to kick his girlfriend to the curb because she pushed him to do drugs and she LET him take the fall for her. No girl would do those things to a man they loved. She was toxic, period and Jonathan deserves better. I am glad Sarah finally knows the truth about Jordan!!! I'm also glad she addressed the fact that she betrayed his trust. Not gonna lie, Sarah annoyed me this season when it came to how she treated Jordan. While I understood that she didn't know what was going on with him, and sympathized with her family situation, I felt like she didn't give him much of a chance to explain himself before dumping him which seemed hypocritical since she was thr one who two timed him. Though I'm glad she admitted she was selfish to him and admitted that she cheated and actually apologized. She verbally took accountability. Now we need to see it in her actions. I hope she will treat Jordan better next season. It will be fun to see her in the loop with the boys and Natalie and see all the shenanigans they get into! I was kind of hoping Jon's evil twin would partially merge with him to give him powers. It's funny, I hated Anderson SO MUCH I wanted his character killed off, but the show did such a good job at redeeming him, that I was sad when he died. The first few episodes were slow, but the season ended up being epic sci-if gold! I loved the way they handled the Bizarro World storyline. The finale was everything. I hope Clark has more to do next season, though it was epic when he got all that power from the sun. I need a season 3!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yessssss. Perfectly said. I absolutely loved how well each of the storylines this season were woven together and underscored the overall theme just the way you mentioned. It always surprises me in the best way how incredible the action scenes are in this show, and how despite that I'm still often on the edge of my seat waiting for those to end so we can see how the interpersonal drama of the characters is resolved because the show has done such a beautiful job of getting us to care about THEM. This show isn't just about "Superman punched a bad guy, so we should be inspired", it truly shows what it means to take ownership of your place in the world around you and make a positive difference, and how sometimes that involves communicating, making sure you are loving those close to you in actions AND words, both big and small, and making mistakes and owning up to them, as much as it might involve * checks notes * punching 2 colliding planets apart after soaking up half the sun. I love that the show doesn't conflate "realism" and "groundedness" with pessimism and cynicism. It's so incredibly refreshing, and so... Superman. Not a god. Just a guy who does the best he can with what he's been given.

I currently am watching Superman & Lois and I must say: this is the most 'human' TV series I've ever watched. And also, literally the most 'human' project in whole live-action superhero genre. Truly a work true ART. And those people are kinda crazy who criticize Snyder/Henry's Superman by comparing him to S&L/Tyler's Superman, while many things about Tyler's Superman's teenage and his early years as Superman are very similar to Henry's interpretation of Superman's. Because both are set in a modern world and even S&L's creators understand that modern world's Superman and his stories are very different than Superman and stories from Christopher Reeves' version's world and time. Also, S&L's creator actually said that he took a lot of inspirations from Snyder's interpretation, because he also understands that difference between Realistic world and Fantasy world. So, if people want to make peace with Snyder's interpretations, they must understand the fact that *the beauty of comic-book characters is that they can be portrayed in different ways from different perspectives to represent different ideologies, themes, philosophies and psychologies .* Those people are narrow-minded who are stuck to just one perspective of a thing and refuses to acknowledge others.

The thing about the kids section hit hard. I’m sixteen, this show is very real in showing behaviour that is ok but can be harmful even if done for a very short period of time. I watched it with my mum, who I think forgets the key point you made which is that: I can see things from a different perspective. But the best thing about that part was that it showed other people my age being able to view the world the way can. So many people are so cynical but I love the kids here because they are so human but how I recognise human. Hurt but trying and happy despite that. Flawed but understandably so. I have never seen a show that made me; a teen who is autistic who feels bogged down by all the cynicism in the world actually see people my age see the world like I can “naive” but it’s not because I can see sides of things that most people have blocked out. I can’t describe how much I love seeing someone break down exactly why I love this show. It makes my emotions feel seen. Even if it’s not the exact same situation or feeling it’s got the concept behind it. It’s so unbelievably nice to just feel seen in something I’ve felt so alone in. This is a very long comment but this matters a lot to me :) Thanks.

I think it's kinda heartbreaking how many people can't see how beautiful Season 2 was. Almost every scene is filled with such emotion and humanity, and the focus on the people in Superman's lives and not just him, paints a bigger picture of what Superman stands for, WHO he stands for, and what makes him not separate from them despite how larger than life he appears. I truly don't understand why people think Season 2 was badly written or that characters aren't acting the way their supposed to. To me it seems like a combination of Season 2 having a lot more moving parts to it, and the show's openness to giving other characters the spotlight in what certain people expect to be a Superman centered show. But that's just not what Superman & Lois is. Not even in Season 1, which almost everyone praises very highly. I feel like it's an optics issue for sure as I feel like a lot of the criticisms people have for characters in this show, especially Sarah, do not come from a place of good faith, and come off as very harsh and lacking in emotional intelligence.
@eruhakusu6099 Жыл бұрын
I loved season 2 as much as I loved the first one. I understand that there are some decisions that can cause conflict with the viewer, but they were made with a purpose, to serve to the themes of conflicted relationships and the consecuenses of lying. There are things that at first glance feels out of place or stupid, but if you analyze each character and their perspective, it makes sense and contributes to the story. Sometimes I feel like people don't conceive that characters can make mistakes or have intentional contradictions, attributing these to bad writing. The only thing that I didn't love was Ally, I feel that there was a waste of potential for her lack of development. She tells a bit about her past and at the end she confesses that the fussion didn't filled her inner void, but most of the time she is a distant figure. At least I wanted to hear her in middle of the final fight that she doesn't want to be stopped because if she stops then she would feel that all the suffering in her life and all her efforts were for nothing.

I feel this season stumbled a little in its storytelling, but not in a way that was anywhere near cataclysmic - some things felt a bit too rushed and too easily resolved whereas others felt like they were drawn out and prolonged, though I think it was stronger as a whole than the beat-by-beat version. I think Jordan was the hardest part to watch, mainly because he has something of a point but he was pushing too many people too far and refusing to consider whether they had a point (they did, particularly up until Clark revealed his secret to Lana, though his whining about Lois even speaking to his ex is ridiculous). I was also hoping to see the bond between Natalie & the boys build up better than it did. Still, fantastic season of a great show.

I wasn’t a fan of season 2. The plot was incredibly stupid and they keep trying to do these huge larger than life threats on a CW budget and it just doesn’t work. Allie wasn’t a good villain and her obtaining godlike powers was stupid. So what, she wants the entire world to be gods and go around absorbing each other? In the words of syndrome, when everyone’s super, no one will be. The small stuff like how excited Clark and Jordan were when Jordan learns how to fly at the Fortress of Solitude were great and it’s why I watch the show. If they focused on that and Superman saving people and less on the world ending threats and all powerful villains, I think the show can really improve.

I don’t get the hate for this season. It has the best visuals of any season(I know that isn’t the most important but it’s worth praising). It discusses mature topics like how drugs can affect someone’s life in every way brilliantly, and how loneliness can lead to bad connections. But it also discusses the importance of staying with family and keeping bonds regardless of how you feel about the people. Jon and Clark’s interactions were great, Lois and Lucy at the very least was interesting. Also we see Jordan become superboy and that was handled excellently. Is this season the worst of the 3 probably but calling it BAD??? I don’t see it.

He likes chocolate cakes, he likes TV, he enjoys football, he gets angry, he loves his family. An alien immigrant is the most human of us all because he was raised by parents that raised him as such. Lois is also surprisingly wonderful. She’s still a headstrong journalist, keeping up her integrity in the face of big obstacles. But also having the heart to drop her case to care for the boys when they’re in danger. Ep 8 is perhaps one of my favourites because we see a vulnerability to Lois that we never likely have seen before. A mother distraught by her miscarriage as she realizes that her doppelgänger successfully had her firstborn. As such, she lashes out on her sons at the thought of potentially losing them.

Sarah cheats on Jordan, doesn't feel any remorse, then treats him like crap, then asks him to be friends with the girl she cheated on him with. Sarah's dad literally tells her that she is the Alpha in this relationship and that she is too good for him. Then the minute he starts gaining confidence in himself, he is taking more responsibility, becoming his own man, the millisecond he stops simping for her and stops being wrapped around her finger she breaks up with him. And then when she discovers he has powers she comes crawling back. See eh I hate this show, this show is essentially Jonathan Kent villain arc, his Villain origin story. All this teen relationship drama is garbage, Lana tells her daughter oh if John doesn't forgive you for cheating then he doesn't deserve you and goes on to be hypocrite and doesn't forgive her husband. Lana and her family stories are garbage. Overated show

It's a miracle have they made the only likable character in Lana's family a cheating husband.

I wouldn't say Season 2 was a "work of art" because of how lackluster Ally was as a villain (in addition to how we never really saw anyone we care about get merged so we never knew if merging was a bad thing, which makes Ally's motivation not even inherently evil), a finale that wasn't explained in how it was resolved (like seriously, how does punching the two earths with the power of the sun separate them and not just , oh I don't know, DESTROY BOTH OF THE PLANET'S TECHTONIC PLATES; really stupid on that one), the dropped storylines (why Bizzarro looks the way he does, Johnathan and Lois not doing anything in the last part of the season, etc.), and this last one is just a personal one but it was the Arrowverse separation that just left me with a bad taste in my mouth (I love the Arrowverse and to see that the CW just wants to cancel or end anything connected to the Arrowverse just makes me want to distance myself from the shows that separate themselves. And this bad taste is just compounded on when you realize that the showrunner originally wanted it to be in the Arrowverse with how he did interviews and the most blatant of them all, Diggle looking the same as he looked on the Flash about two weeks prior to the finale. It just feels like a spit in the face to the fans that wanted to watch the show for bigger connections). Thanks for reading my rant lol

Both seasons have big issues with dragging plotlines that end up being mediocre and not focused narrative character development, it constantly bounces all over the place to drama to action We need better structure on what it's trying to be, is it about superman fighting the baddies or is it about Clark and Lois trying to balance their new lives in Smallville with other characters doing the same? The show can't balance both, especially with the Langs and the Henrys....it's too much, it has no real time to develop anyone naturally

Season 1 was great. Season 2 was pretty bad and in poor taste to do a character in a cult called Allie after the whole Smallville actress being part of a cult thing. Of all the storylines they can draw from and then they decided to go with this blatant plot

Meh, glad you liked it seemed to me to just be high production values carrying for cardboard characterization and storylines on rails

The second season ruined this series for me. Too much emphasis put on side characters who don't add anything meaningful or interesting instead of focusing more on the family and especially the boys and their development.
