It really shows that all Kal and Lex had to do to end their rivalry is simply....to talk with each other meanwhile both of them were in similar situations. Instead of fighting each other all the time and being suspicious about each others behaviors they should just talk about it all and maybe become something more than enemies, friends perhaps? 👀

The issue with this story is it conflicts with the actual game story. You have the idea of Lex’s growth in the game storyline however you later learn it was all a trick to ensure Lex gets even more power forming his own council of Lex from parallel timelines
@ShinySephiroth1
@ShinySephiroth1 Жыл бұрын
Is it possible this is after the game finishes, with Future Lex and Future Bruce coming to a real agreement to back and fix things and these events are a consequence of that?
@Wezt334
@Wezt334 Жыл бұрын
@@ShinySephiroth1 not really, essentially you’d be arguing they went back to fix things using Fracture which was nearly impossible to do and they only just managed it, Lex double crossed, chaos ensures, Future Batman returns Future Lex to their timeline and then they both agree to go back in time again to fix both the broken future and Lex’s time travel escapades. This story only works as an alternate timeline story as opposed to the game’s storyline which is still ongoing
@Alacaelum
@Alacaelum Жыл бұрын
@@Wezt334 And what if the game story happens after the comic? Like by it usual time travel shenanigans the future repeats future Lex "repents" and the game happens? I mean the point of the comic is that Lex ultimately sacrifices hisnew self to return to who he was, which could just lead to the game.
@Wezt334
@Wezt334 Жыл бұрын
@@Alacaelum I can’t see that, by that argument the story would work off 3 timelines. The first timeline would be the comic, then Lex resets the timeline leading us to the games opening scene. In this now reset timeline Braniac still wins resulting in the same Future Batman and Future Lex who plan to go back in time to reset the time line using Fracture which results in the new time line the game works from where we learn that Future Lex used the opportunity to attain even more power for himself (the Future Lex). It seems convoluted and would make the comic story redundant as if you read the comic Lex isn’t sacrificing himself to save the world and return to who he once was, his plan was solely to get revenge on Brainiac even if it meant killing all the heroes and villains who still remained in that timeline. If that’s your head canon that’s cool but it conflicts too much with the in game story, you need to remember this was written a year after the game was released by 1 of the games co writers. After the comics release the games story revealed more about what happened before Future Lex & Future Batman sent exobytes into the past which changed how the events of the comic took place. As such at the time of release he comic could’ve been considered canon but since then the game storyline would have since retconned it.
@Alacaelum

@maylabrown4584

Honestly I liked it, it was pretty ambitious for its time showing the life of Top Tier Hero in their young days in Live Action for the first time ever. It also, unfortunately and fortunately, set the groundwork for how CW would do most of their older teen/young adult character shows. I wish they were more ambitious nowadays with that kind of stuff, especially in Marvel’s Case who has so many young adult/teen heroes that could get limelight. A Static Shock Show from DC or a Robbie Reyes show from Marvel would be awesome ngl

The thing is lex lived his life always trying to find the next challenge to conquer. But he had finally conquered everything. Until the man who Could never be conquered. Arrived. Without superman lex has no purpose. If the perfect rival to a man who wants to conquer every challenge, Is a man who literally cannot be conquered. Then it is clear as day that lex and superman were literally made for each other. I don't mean in the comic book sense. I mean in like the actual philosophical sense. Superman and lex, Represent the concept of the man Forced to A boulder up hill for eternity and the boulder In and of itself to each other. It is something so infinite that it can never truly stop. And whenever it does the result is far more horrific than the status quo. And lex was man enough to realize that in order for the world to run properly. He had to go back to being the man pushing the boulder. He sacrificed everything that he had. Just to make everything the way it was again. That is a level of personal mental redemption That I don't think any human being on earth has ever felt.

That's not a bad story arc. Considering I stopped reading comics over thirty years ago, after picking up a New Mutants issue with Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, I placed it back in the rack and never looked back. I can't say it was bad, I just didn't understand what it was. This story seems true to the classic 60's Luthor, who looked at himself as a hero. Hell, Dr. Doom had a country but Lex had a whole planet where he was the hero and Superman was the villain. There was a great story where Lexs' wife on Lexor found out about his past and Superman helped him to regain his hero status on Lexor. The Silver Age! Guess I'll never leave.

No matter how you want to spin the narrative Superman killing Zod isn't comparable to The Joker or Brainiac. He killed Joker and who he thought was Brainiac out of revenge. Zod was killed to save lives. Sure Superman could've flown him out of the building but, would there be a prison that could hold Zod without taking his powers away? How many times do you want the heroes to learn the same lesson? The villain will always break free and kill more people while the hero is bound by a code that just causes more lives to be taken. Lois would be alive in the Injustice universe if Batman had dealt with Joker before Superman did it. People died in Superman vs the Elite because Superman refused to take Atomic Skull out for good. Even Batman in Arkham City said no matter how many times he stops The Joker he'll just break out and do it all again. Allowing a never ending cycle of murder to continue doesn't make anyone a hero.
@Valdemar135
@Valdemar135 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, comic heroes are absolutely morally bankrupt. Their ideals are selfish. Instead of saving actual lives, they continue to use buzzwords like "hope" and "justice". And more and more people die.
@MattAnd

I understand why you think this, but the characters don’t know they’re in a story like this. In Batman’s case his rogues gallery is full of people who need and he wants to help - Harvey Dent, Mr Freeze, The Ventriloquist, etc. There’s even been times where he was almost certain a villain was dead, but they ended up coming back meter just because that’s how comics work Same goes for many heroes. Superman vs the Elite goes into exactly why Superman doesn’t and shouldn’t kill. Using Zod as an example, Superman specifically has the Phantom Zone as a prison for villains who would be too powerful to keep elsewhere - some writers just ignore it to push the “Superman has to kill” angle There’s also the element of the heroes not being the judge and jury. If the judicial system decides the Joker’s too mentally Ill to be executed - why should Batman supersede that?
