Could I use a hypodermic needle (insulin needle). I was thinking just remove the plunger and stick the fish. Any thoughts?

It’s a tough call sometimes. When you have a smallie who looks like they are doing fine, but then struggle at the surface maybe once every ten times you check do you go ahead and fizz it? Also, I’ve noticed many struggle at the surface right after I catch them then they relax and are fine the rest of the day. How long do you wait before fizzing them?
